  Marvin J. Green, age 8 0, passed away and unexpectedly Wednesday March 22nd, 1995 while vacationi ng in Alabama. He was born March 11th, 1915 in Appleton, son of the la te Nicholas and Blanche (Brady) Green, and has been Appleton resident a ll of his life. Marvin was united in marriage to Lucille DeNoble on Ju ne 22nd, 1940 sharing 44 years together before her death in 1984. Marv in joined the Appleton police department on July 9th, 1940. He was with t he department for 37 years before retiring in 1977 with the rank of Captai n. Marvin attended Stevens Point University where he played on the footba ll team. He was a sports enthusiast, playing softball with local teams, s emipro football with the Manitowoc Chiefs and an avid golfer. Marvin w as a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church, Combined Locks and serv ed in the Wisconsin National Guard from 1932 until 1940. Survivors inclu de two sons and daughters in law: Dennis and Patricia Green, Pardeevill e; Douglas Green, Madison; two grandchildren: Michael and Maureen Green; t wo brothers and a sister in law: Donald and Blanche Green, Appleton; Robe rt Green, Kimberly; a sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and William Plat t, Menasha; a special friend, Winifred Wieseckel, Kimberly. Besides his p arents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law Leona Gree n. The mass of resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday Mar ch 25th at St. Paul Catholic Church, the Rev. Robert Vandenberg officiatin g. Internment will be in St. Joseph cemetery.
