  Vandehey, Marian R. (Jansen), Formerly of Kimberly Marian R. (Jansen) Vandehey, age 89, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Brewster Village. Marian was born to Esther (Garvey) and John (Jack) Jansen of Little Chute on June 10, 1922; she loved being spoiled by her dad. Marian was the middle child and loved her big brother Paul, despite his teasing and her little sister "Ruthie Doll" who she helped raise after her mother's untimely death in 1939. Marian was well known for her beautiful soprano voice, a talent she shared with many of her children. She often sang for weddings with Ave Maria being her specialty and even in taverns with her best friends Mare Hammond and Mary Elizabeth Jansen. In later years her Irish roots had her singing at VanAbel's in Hollandtown for many years on St Patrick's Day. Marian married the love of her life, Glen L. Vandehey of Kaukauna on September 14, 1946 at St. John's Catholic Church in Little Chute. Marian and Glen lived with her father in their Little Chute home until his death in 1956. It was then that Glen built her a new home just over the bridge on Adams Place in Kimberly, where she began her life as a stay-at-home wife and mother after her time at the Kimberly Mill. When Marian was 47 years old, Glen spent many hours teaching her to drive, saying prayers from the passenger's seat. Some of Marian's favorite past times were volunteering over 3000 hours at St. Elizabeth Hospital shampooing hair, shopping at Kohls with her daughters and granddaughters. She also enjoyed spending afternoons playing cribbage with the grandkids, only after putting them to work, cleaning knick-knacks, and many, many weekends on the porch up at their cabin in Fence, WI, enjoying her and Glen's drink of choice; brandy manhattans. In 1983, Marian survived a bout with cancer. In 1996, Marian and Glen celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary at Walt Disney World with Kevin, Deb and their kids; earning her first flight wings at that time. Marian is survived by her children Mary (Dave) Verboomen, John (special friend Cheryl Anderson), Deb (Kevin) Van Dyn Hoven; grandchildren Christopher (Kay) Verboomen, Steve (special friend Amy Berg) Verboomen, Amie Verboomen, Shannan (special friend Kyle VandenEng) Vandehey, Stefanie (Kevin) Doszak, Samantha (fianc? Donnie Kinsey) Vandehey, Jessica (Erik) Dorn, Jason Van Dyn Hoven, Ryan (fianc? Lindsey Harrington) Vandehey, Katie (fianc? Ryan Victory) Vandehey, Jeff VanDyke, Jonathan (Tara) VanDyke, Jenny (Ron) Bahr and 7 great grandchildren with two more on the way. Marian is further survived by her brother in laws, Jim Strick, Eugene (Klink) Vandehey, Joe Appleton, a son-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and beloved neighbors and friends. Marian is preceded in death by her husband Glen, son Mark and daughter-in-law Sheila Vandehey, daughter Judy VanDyke, daughter-in-law Valerie Vandehey, an infant son, great grand daughter Santanna Verboomen, brother and sister-in-law Paul and Arlene Jansen, sister Ruth Strick and numerous family members of Glen's. Visitation will take place on Friday, August 5, 2011 at St Paul Catholic Church in Combined Locks from 9:30-11:30 am with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:30. Burial will take place in St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established. Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the family.
