      07/15/2002 WKA Eugene H. HoganMUKWONAGO Eugene H. Hogan of Mukwonago passed away Friday, July 12, 200 2, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at age 77. Eugene was born June 10, 192 5, in Antigo, to Bernard and Gertrude (nee Dahm) Hogan. On May 8, 195 4, he married Lorraine L. Roesler in Milwaukee.

      2002 2/21/2002 BDM; Alois "Pete" Wanto, 78, of Beaver Dam, died on Tuesda y, Feb. 19, 2002, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.The funeral will be held on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m., at St. Michael 's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. William Key will officiate. Buri al will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.Mr. Wanto was born on July 26, 1923, in Beaver Dam, the son of Peter and C lara (Gorzinski) Wanto.Mr. Wanto worked in the Milwaukee Ship Yards during World War II as an ele ctrician. He then worked at Metal Fab of Beaver Dam for over 35 years, ret iring in 1984. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church where he w as an usher for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Du ring his retirement he enjoyed being a member of the Beaver Area Radio Fly ers, a radio controlled model airplane flying club.Survivors include one nephew, John (Nona) Brower, Fort Atkinson; two niece s, Nancy (Michael) Hull, Stoughton, and ReaEtta (Jim) Dahm, Sun Prairie; g randnieces, grandnephews, relatives and friends.

      2002 1/05/2002 WKA : Stuart BoehmOCONOMOWOC Stuart Boehm, 86, of Oconomowoc, died Thursday, Jan. 3., 200 2, at Encore Assisted Living in Stoughton, Wis. He was born Sept. 27, 191 5, in Danville, Ill., the son of Mark R. and Elizabeth (Stewart) Boeh m. He married Beverly Irene Miller of Danville on July 30, 1938.He worked for the Musebeck, Foot-So-Port Shoe Company for more than 40 yea rs. The company started in Danville and moved to Oconomowoc in 1948. He w as the treasurer on the board of directors, retiring in 1980. He was the P ast Master of the Masonic Lodge No. 42 F&AM; past president of the Toastma sters Club; past president of Kiwanis Club; a member of the Fire and Poli ce Commission for 15 years and a member of Good Shepherd United Methodi st Church. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the South Pacific .Survivors include his wife, Beverly; son William (Mary) Boehm of Montell o; daughter Susan (Fred) Bonacker of Belleville; grandchildren, Beth (Jame s) Glynn of Eagen, Minn., Margaret (Johnny) Palecek of Neenah, Julie (Andr ew) Messersmith of Luck, Joseph Boehm and Rebecca Boehm of Montello; great -grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah and Isaac Glynn and Jonathan Messersmit h. He is also survived by a sister, Betty Criswell of Tilton, Ill., and ot her relatives and friends.Stuart was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John. C., and a si ster, Mary Dahm.Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Pagenkopt Funeral Hom e, 1165 Summit Ave., Oconomowoc. A Masonic service will be then held at t he funeral home at 7 p.m. with a religious service to follow.A committal service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Family Cent er at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.Memorials may be give to the Masonic Lodge Number 42 F&AM, Good Shepherd U nited Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.       1/03/2002, WBD; Norbert E. Degnitz, 58, of rural Adell, passed away on Wedn esday, Jan. 2, 2002, at St. Michael's Hospital, Milwaukee, following a cou rageous 16-year battle with cancer.He was born May 10, 1943, in Sheboygan, to Eugene and Dorothy (Krahn) Degn itz, and graduated in 1961 from Random Lake High School.Norbert and Muriel Verhulst were united in marriage on Sept. 9, 1961 at Zi on United Methodist Church, Batavia.In his early career, he worked for Harvey Habeck general contractor, and l ater owned and operated his own business, Norbert Degnitz Constructi on in rural Adell for over 23 years.Norbert loved to drag race and did so for over 30 years. He enjoyed bowlin g, fishing, horseshoes and snowmobiling, but most enjoyed time spent wi th his family.
      He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Batavia.Survivors include his loving wife; a son, Dion (Patti) Degnitz of Random L ake; two daughters, Delene Wallace and Dana (Jeff) Dahm, both of Random La ke; his mother, Dorothy Wilke of West Bend; six grandchildren, Derek and D ustin Degnitz, Colin and Colton Wallace and Samantha and Zachary Dah m. He is further survived by a sister, Janet Degnitz of West Bend and h is mother-in-law, LaVerne Verhulst of Sheboygan Falls.Preceding him in death were his father and his father-in-law, Eugene Verhu lst.A funeral service will be held for Norbert on Saturday, Jan. 5, at 11 a. m. at Zion United Methodist Church.Visitation at the church will be held on Friday from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. a nd again on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.Rev. Jodi Arpke-Lone, pastor of the church, will officiate, and interme nt will follow in the church cemetery.A memorial fund has been established in the name of Norbert E. Degnitz.

He married Laura A. Borchert on Jan. 11, 1947, at Holy Angels Parsona ge of West Bend.He was raised in Iron Ridge and attended Mayville High School, graduati ng with the class of 1944. After marriage, the couple moved to West Ben d. He worked for Bend Industries for 40 years, retiring on Sept. 16, 198 7. He was an avid lover of motorcycles, fishing, hunting and cars. He w as a member of West Bend Moose Lodge #1398 and Teamsters Local #200.He is survived by his wife; one brother, Jack (Betty) Dahm of Milwaukee; o ne sister, Grace (Joe) Ahrens of Milwaukee; three sisters-in-law, Delor es (Sandy) Allen of Tucson, Ariz., Violet Westphal of town of Jackson a nd Ruth (Jerry) Hayes of Hartford; two special nephews, Doug (Rose Ann) We stphal and Mike (Charlene) Westphal; many other nieces; nephews; other rel atives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Edgar.Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Phillip Funeral Ho me Chapel of West Bend with Pastor Bruce Dunford officiating. "Shorty" Gnerlich, 75, of West Bend, died Wed nesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at his residence.He was born June 3, 1926, in Horicon, to the late Gustav and Laura (Dah m) Gnerlich, and served with the U.S. Army during World War II.After his marriage to Rose R. Ravanelli on July 23, 1949 at Mayville, t he couple lived in Mayville, later moving to West Bend in 1956.He was employed as a shipping and receiving clerk for The West Bend Co. f or over 38 years, retiring in 1989.He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church of Wet Bend, the VFW Post # 1393 of West Bend, the 25-Year-Club of The West Bend Co. and The Loyal Ord er of Moose #1398 of West Bend.Survivors include his wife; two children, Gloria (Stan) McWilliams of Albu querque, N.M. and Dennis (Linda) of Stevens Point; three grandchildren, Mi chelle (Michael) Litten, Jennifer (Brian) Carson and Melissa McWilliams, a ll of Albuquerque; three great-grandchildren, Autumn Litten, Lauren Litt en and Skylar Carson; two sisters, Verna Kunz of Oakfield and Alice Elitz er of Fond du Lac; two brothers, Lester (Marion) Gnerlich of Iron Ridge a nd Lawrence (Mildred) Gnerlich of Mayville; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Gner lich of Mayville; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

DahmWISCONSIN RAPIDS Frederick Miller Dahm, 55, of 5761 Honeysuckle Court, Wis consin Rapids, died on Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Riverview Hospital, Wisc onsin Rapids.The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m., at t he Ritchay Funeral Home, Wisconsin Rapids. The Rev. John Hogan will offici ate. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Stevens Point.Mr. Dahm was born on Jan. 24, 1946, in Waupaca, the son of Frederick and D orothy (Wendtland) Dahm. He was married on Aug. 7, 1971, to Mary Lodho lz in Stevens Point.Mr. Dahm received his undergraduate and masters degree in history from t he University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He taught social studies at Linc oln High School in Wisconsin Rapids from 1971 until the present. He was t he coordinator of the volunteer center and community service program at Li ncoln High School for the past eight years. He was the recipient of the Ko hl Teacher Fellowship and was teacher of the year for the Wisconsin Rapi ds school district in 1998. He received the UW-Stevens Point History Depar tment outstanding teacher of the year award in 1986. He also published art icles and reviews in professional journals.Mr. Dahm was very active in many school and community functions. He serv ed on the board of directors for the American Suzuki Talent Education Cent er. As a father, he supported his son and daughter in violin studies for m any years. He enjoyed golf and loved playing with his family and friend s. He was a loving husband and father and will be deeply missed.Survivors include his wife, Mary Dahm, Wisconsin Rapids; one son, Matth ew Dahm, Bloomington, Ind.; one daughter, Katie Dahm, at home; two brother s, Edward Dahm, Stevens Point, and James (ReaEtta) Dahm, Sun Prairie; rela tives and friends.
      He was preceded in death by his parents.Friends may call on Monday, Oct. 1, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Ritchay Funer al Home, Wisconsin Rapids, and on Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 10 a.m. until t he time of service at the funeral home.Memorials may be made to the Fred Dahm Scholarship Trust at Lincoln High S chool, Wisconsin Rapids.
      6/05/2001; HORICON - Horicon's new 4,000-gallon capacity tanker was deliver ed to the Horicon Fire Department on Wednesday. Looking over Horicon No. 1 991 are from left, Fire Chief Tom Anfinson and Assistant Chief Ron Dahm. T he new unit will be in service next week and will replace a 1971 truck whi ch will be sold.
