  Violet C. Peterson of Huxley died Friday, Feb. 11, at her home due to congestive heart failure. The funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at St. Mary's-Holy Cross Catholic Church in Elkhart, with Father Michael Amadeo officiating. Her body will be cremated with burial at a later date. Violet was born Jan. 18, 1917, in Parker, S.D., to Cecilia and Matthias Ruppert. She married Clifford Peterson, who preceded her in death in 1979. They moved to a farm nearly Huxley in 1941, where she lived until moving into Huxley in 1998. She was a member of St. Mary's-Holy Cross Catholic Church of Elkhart, past member of St. Malachy's of Madrid and Huxley Senior Citizens. Survivors include three children, Delila Roberts of Huxley, Le Roy (Gale) Peterson of Madrid and Diane (Le Roy) Cronk of Elkhart; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; her parents; and two brothers, Paul and Earl. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 tonight at St. Mary's-Holy Cross Church with a prayer service to follow at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's-Holy Cross. Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home of Slater is in charge of arrangements.
