  John T. Wilz, 63 of Appleton passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday May 14, 2013, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Appleton, February 22, 1950, son of the late, Earl and Katherine (Smith) Wilz. John met his soul mate, Kris Laabs in 1993. John worked for Appleton Mills (Voith Fabric) for 38 years, retiring in 2005. He had a love of sports, playing softball and bowling for many years. John was an avid Brewer fan like his father, and had a great love for the Packers. John is survived by his soul mate, Kris; three daughters, Ashley (Travis) Dern, Amanda Wilz, and Allison (Joe) Munes; seven grandchildren, Avin, Riley, Zea, Diamond, Nevaeh, Matthew, and Jessica; Kris' children, Andy Johann, Deb (James) King, and Barry Laabs; and his beloved dog, Gracie. John was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Ronnie. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Friday May 17, 2013, at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Appleton.
