Charles C. Kantola, age 76, of Waukegan, IL, passed away June 26, 2009 in Highland Park Hospital. He was born February 10, 1933 in Waukegan, IL. He was a member of St. Dismas Catholic Church; served as an usher and belonged to the Men's Club. He graduated from Waukegan Township High School, served his country from 1952-1955 in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for North Shore office machines for 41 years as an office machine technician. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards and planting his vegetable garden. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn off 55 years; daughter, Kathleen (Robert) Janicki of Mundelein; son, James (Sherry) Kantola of Waukegan; brothers, Ronald (Edith) Kantola of Waukegan, Robert (Patricia) Kantola of Waukegan; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by infant daughter, Deborah Lynn; mother; father; and two brothers. Visitation is Tuesday, 5-8 p.m. at Marsh Funeral Home of Gurnee, 305 Cemetery, Road. Services are Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. Dismas Catholic Church, 2600 Sunset Ave., Waukegan, IL 60087, with Father John Ryan officiating. Interment Ascension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-0050.
