    • Email; Date: 11/28/2005 8:58:08 A.M. Pacific Standard Time From: cschaefer 63@nc.rr.comJay,Thanks for the obit. The Kampo genealogy has been a struggle, but I' ve made some progress. I have not been able to reach beyond the family's a rrival in America (no Dutch records so far). However, I have ascertained t hat the father of the oldest children died at some point before arriving h ere (my ancestor John Campo always said he died at sea on the trip over). The mother's name is Rosena in all American documentation. Rosena marri ed Martin Kampen fairly soon after arriving in America. Martin was years y ounger than she, yet he assumed the stepfather role for the children. I d id find the ship's register on which Martin is listed as a shoemaker - t he Maria Magdelena that sailed from Rotterdam on March 29, 1848. This is t he ship that also carried Father van den Broek who I believe helped fou nd the church in Little Chute. At any rate, Martin and Rosena settled in L ittle Chute and can be found on the 1850 and 1860 census reports there, th ough Rosena is not identified correctly in 1860. I lose track of the t wo of them after that, though I did find a Martin Kampen in the 1880 censu s, widowed, which is probably him. There are several children listed on the census reports, not all of wh om I can account for. There is John Campo; Timothy Thomas Kampo; Harriet V anderheiden and Frank Kampo. There were possibly four more: Mary, Hermannu s, Theodore and Jane.I have obits for John and Timothy and dates for Harriet and Frank. I wou ld love to hear what you have on Harriet and Jane/Jenny.I would be most appreciative if you would share what you have and I wou ld be happy to do the same.
      Thanks,Cindy
