  Mr. and Mrs. Dan Pendergast received word from the War Department that their son Pfc. Cyril Pendergast had been killed in action on February 11 in Italy. Pfc. Pendergast was given the Purple Heart award last November after he suffered a hand wound. He had been in the Army almost a year entering March 31, 1943. He attended Holy Cross School and graduated Kaukauna high school in 1942.

  The casketed remains of private George E. Egan Jr., and Pfc. Cyril G. Pendergast, World War II deceased members of the Army from Kaukauna, being returned from overseas final barrier, will arrive within five weeks accompanied by a uniform Army escort. In August 4, 1948; The casketed remains of Private First-Class Cyril G. Pendergast, 19, who was killed in action on the Anzio Beachhead February 14, 1944 while serving with the 30th Infantry Division arrived in Kaukauna Thursday. His body was interred in Italy but has been returned to this country at the request of his parents.
