  Kersten, Peter S.Peter S. Kersten, 89, Green Bay, died peacefully Monday, October 2, 200 6, at a local nursing home with his family by his side. He was born Sep t. 17, 1917, in Brillion, to the late Henry and "Nellie" (Kempen) Kerste n. He was a World War II Veteran who served 30 months in the Pacific Theat re in Bougainville and the Philippine Islands. He retired from Fort Howa rd Paper Mill after 44 years of service. Peter was a member of St. Jude Pa rish, a member of the Xavier Guild, the VFW Post #2037, the Single Adult C lub and the Crozier Society. He loved to travel, hunt, fish, enjoy musi c, play cards and attend Army reunions. He especially enjoyed dancing.He is survived by a sister, Josephine (Kersten) Roder, Green Bay; a sister -in-law, Irene Kersten, Green Bay; 14 nieces and six nephews whom he treat ed as his own children; many great-nieces and great-nephews.He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Norbe rt and Florence (Diny) Kersten, Ervin and Coletta Kersten, John Kersten; a nd a brother-in-law, George Roder.Friends may call at St. Jude Catholic Church, Green Bay, from 3 to 6 p. m. Thursday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6 p.m. Thursd ay at the church. Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
