  Family History Researcher	From Andy Wegner files; Her name was listed in census records as Anna and as Hannah, so I assumed her real name was Johanna. This is confirmed by her baptism record (spo nsor was Johanna Giesberg, likely a sister of her mother). There is some question as to the proper year on her baptism record. It looks to be 1853, but her death record says she was 73 when she died of "Dropsy" on January 4, 1926, which would mean she likely was born in 1852. I have noticed several months between birthdates and baptism dates for other babies in contemporary records, so all of the above dates could be consistent. Marriage record (ref 144) shows a Johanna B. Eiting marrying Peter Kersten on Jan 23, 1872, residing in Holland township. Minister was C. L. Lemagie, Hollandtown. The witness, Johanna C. Eiting, who would be an aunt. Her name is not listed as a child in Ref 280. Other than Mary, I do not know actual birthdates or birth order for her children. I have assigned estimated dates based on the order they were listed in her obituary. The fact that the youngest two were "at home" in 1926 at her death, would suggest I have grouped the birth years of her children two closely. !Ref 157 lists an Anna Kersten born May 23, 1876 to Peter and Johanna. I don't know which if any of the other listed siblings she may in fact be -- with multiple first names, who knows?

Kersten, age 74, lingering illness of one year, mass a St. Francis Church, Hollandtown by Rev Theodor Kersten of Manitowoc, maiden name Eiting born in "Holland" (Hollandtownship) Nov 21, 1851, married Peter Kersten Jan 23, 1872, settled on farm in Town of Brillion, survived by eight children: Mrs. John Van Vreede of Depere (likely Mary), Mrs. Minnie Rolf of Hollandtown, Henry, Bernard, Theodore, and William all of Brillion, and Gerhard and Katherine at home, pall bearers were Peter Hagen, John Vanden Berg, Joseph Micke, John Gerrits,Theodore Gerrits, and William Biese, buried St. Francis Cemetery.
