  Richard Grissman, 78, Kaukauna, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2009, in Appleton, surrounded by his family. He was born Oct, 11, 1930, son of the late Herman and Mary (Schaefer) Grissman. Richard was a U.S. Army Veteran beginning his service in 1949. On Aug. 16, 1958, he was united in marriage to Beatrice "Bea" Zeman at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna, and together they celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 2008. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing cards and woodworking. Richard was a very family oriented man who enjoyed spending his time with all his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Bea, Kaukauna; five daughters, Deborah (Pete) Heinritz, Kaukauna; Sue Grissman, Appleton; Lisa (Michael) Merbach, Appleton; Vicki (Dean) Lamers, Kaukauna; and Bonnie (Ed) Ver Voort, Kaukauna; 11 grandchildren, Richard and Ryan Heinritz, Louis and Alexis Merbach, Meg, Olivia and Liz Lamers, Sarah, Julie, Aimee and Samantha Ver Voort; two sisters, Joyce Alt and Helen Baeten; one brother, Don (Eunice) Grissman; two sisters-in-law, Violet Grissman and Mary Grissman. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Colette (Andy) Walton; four brothers, Bob, Carl, Jerry (Toni) and Roy (Luella); two brothers-in-law, Dave Alt and Marvin Baeten. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace Street, Combined Locks, with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Friends will be received directly at church on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna, is assisting the family. 920-766-2099. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors and staff at Kaukauna Clinic, Valley VNA Senior Services and the staff at Colony Oaks Care Center.
