  Pethan, Lydia H. Lydia H. Pethan, age 93, of Hilbert died Thursday evening February 12, 2009, at the Chilton Care Center. She was born April 4, 1915 in St. John a daughter of the late Matt & Mary (Thiel) Schreiner. On September 24, 1935, she married Gilbert J. Pethan in Hollandtown; he preceded her in death on October 10, 1988. In addition to raising her family, Lydia was the bookkeeper for her husband's business, Gib's Auto Service in Hilbert. Lydia was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hilbert and the Christian Mother's Society. Survivors include her five children: Merlin (Deannie) Pethan of Murphys, CA, Mary (Stan) Genslak of Rochester, MI, Joseph (Debbie) Pethan of Hilbert, Roger Pethan of New Holstein and Paul (Victoria) Pethan of New Holstein; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Pethan of Hilbert; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and a brother, Norbert (Joyce) Schreiner of Valders. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Gilbert Pethan; a son, Eugene Pethan; a great-grandchild, Sara; two sisters, Valeria Loehr & Seraphine Hensler and a brother, Jerome Schreiner. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday February 17, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church 108 S 6th Street Hilbert, WI. Rev. Philip Dinh-Van-Thiep will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Hilbert. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The Sippel Funeral Home in New Holstein, 920-898-4300, is assisting the family.
