  Shirley, age 90, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010, at Appleton Health Care Center. She was born July 17, 1920, in Seymour, daughter of the late Harold and Margaret (Meyer) Stammer. She married Edwill W. Murphy August 1, 1939, sharing 57 years together before his death March 17, l997. Shirley was employed by Zwicker Knitting Mills for many years. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Shirley and Ed spent many wonderful years at their home on Legend Lake. She especially enjoyed cooking for family and friends, tending to her flowers and bird watching. Shirley is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Mary and Fred Vercauteren, Appleton; three sons and daughters-in-law: Ronald and Barbara Murphy, Appleton; Richard and Roxann Murphy, Woodruff; William and Diane Murphy, Appleton; a sister and brother-in-law: Marlene and William Lopes, Appleton; eight grandchildren; 11 great grand children; a daughter-in-law: Patricia Murphy, Mackville; a sister-in-law: Stella Stammer; special friends, Carol and Lila; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by a son Steven; two brothers: Lyle (Virginia) Stammer and Jim Stammer. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 23, 2010, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N. McDonald St., with Rev. James Lukas and Rev. Gerald Falk officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rev. Gerald Falk for the time and prayers he shared with Shirley and also to the staff at Appleton Health Care for the wonderful care Shirley received during her stay.
