    Obituary:
Gun's Accidental Discharge Kills Farmer On Hunt
Emro Ziegler Is Shot In Lung When Trigger Catches As He Stoops To Recover Rifle Aft- er It Has Fallen An accidental gunshot added an- other death Sunday to the hunting tragedies of the season and deprived a young wife and two small children of their husband and father. Emro Ziegler, 29, a farmer of the town of Grand Chute, lies dead at his home as the result of the discharge of his shotgun while he was recovering it from the ground during a rabbit hunting expedition at the George Plamann farm. He died almost instantly after the shot had pierced his lung. Ziegler was one of nine men in a party which set out Sunday morn- ing to hunt rabbits. The morning was to be devoted to the hunt and there was to be a dinner party at noon at the Edward Plamann farm home. Others in the party were Ernest Springstroh and Artur, Edward and George Plamann, brothers-in-law. Edward Kubitz of Freedom, and three Milwaukee young men who were visiting the Ziegler families.
    WERE SEEKING RABBITS
The hunters had reached a clear- ing at about 10 o'clock and had sent dogs into the brush to drive the rabbits from shelter. Each man took position on a stump ready to fire at the game when it appeared. Ziegler rose to a stump and as he did so dropped his gun. It slid down- ward between his legs. He reached down without stepping of the stump, took hold of the end of the gun barrel and pulled the weapon upward be- tween his legs holding it in both hands close to his body. The trigger caught on a projection of the stump or in the weeds or stubble around it just as the muzzle had reached a position below the lungs. It went off and the shot pierced a lung, severing one of the main arteries from the heart. Companions rushed to the man's aid and one of them started for the farmhouse to summon medical aid. He uttered a cry, "I'm shot the heart," and died in the arms of his friends.
    APPLETON COUPLES SON
The gun victim is a son of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Ziegler, 952 Lawe-st and is a nephew of G. D. Ziegler. president of the Aid Association for Lutherans. He leaves a widow and two children, Carl. 5. and Gerald. 2. He is survived also by four brothers. Walter, Green- ville; Arthur and Hebert. Appleton; Edward. Center. He had operated his present farm for about seven years. Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the home in Grand Chute, and thereafter at St. Paul Lutheran church. Free- dom. The Rev. G. A. Dettmann will be in charge. Burial will be made in St. Peter Lutheran cemetery.
