Obituary:
Gilbert Wendt, 95, passed away on Dec. 22, 2010, at the Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was born March 19, 1915, to Ed and Emma (Krueger) Wendt in the Town of Black Creek, Wis. On Nov. 16, 1940, he married Elna Uhlenbrauck.
As a young man, Gilbert was active in the Farmers Cooperative movement and worked at the Center Valley Co-op. He worked in a lumber camp, sold insurance, farmed before moving into the city of Appleton and began his career at the old Appleton Coated Paper Company. There he worked on the plant floor in the rewinder department, served as a union officer and worked as a supervisor during a long career ending in his retirement at age 65 in 1980, at what was then known as Appleton Papers. He lived in the house he built on Rankin Street in 1956 until this past August when he joined Mark and Michele in Fort Wayne.
Gilbert is survived by his son, Mark (Michele Williams) Wendt, Fort Wayne, Ind.; grandchildren, Tami (Allen) Pickett, Lancaster, Ky; Thomas (Linda) Wendt, Berea, Ky., and Jamie Williams, Toledo, OH; great-grandchildren, Sarah (Zach) Short, Natasha Johnson, Joanna Pickett and Connlee Pickett. Gilbert is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Elna; son, Jack; brothers, Herb and Bob; sisters, Esther, Lauretta and Myrtle.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 28 at Grace Lutheran Church, 900 North Mason Street, Appleton, Wis., at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Judy Deckert officiating. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. A memorial fund is being established for Grace Lutheran Church in Gilbert's name.

Obituary:
Jack Wendt, 66, Appleton, passed away Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. He was born Nov. 6, 1943, in Appleton, to Gilbert and Elna (Uhlenbrauck) Wendt. Jack taught at Freedom High School until retiring in 2007.
He is survived by his father, Gilbert, Appleton; brother, Mark (Michelle Williams) Wendt, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a daughter, Tami (Allen) Pickett, Lancaster, Ky.; a son, Thomas (Linda) Wendt, Berea, Ky.; four grandchildren, Sarah (Zack) Short, Natasha Johnson, Joanna and Connlee Pickett. He is further survived by other relatives and dear friends, Paul (Leanne) Line, Paul (Fonda) Larson and Pete Pfundtner.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elna.
Funeral services for Jack will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at the funeral home with the Rev. Judy Deckert officiating. Friends may visit the family Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. and again Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of the Martha Siekman Center and Cherry Meadows for their loving and exceptional care of Jack and his family.
