    Obituary:
    Lydia Marie Gegere, 88, Green Bay, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006. She was born May 21, 1918, to the late Lloyd and Elizabeth (Nooyen) Thornton. Many years ago, in the l940's, Lydia worked as a volunteer for the Red Cross, sewing bandages for the servicemen in World War II. She was also a factory worker for Wheeler Cheese, where she met and later married George Gegere. They enjoyed many years of riding their Harley together. Lydia's hobbies were sewing, knitting, reading, doing puzzles, cooking and baking apple pies. She was a devoted mother to her one and only child, a daughter, Barbara Cormier. She was a loving grandmother to three grandchildren, Robert, Sheileen and Cheryl. She also loved and enjoyed her eight great-grandchildren.
    Survivors include her husband, George; a daughter, Barbara Cormier; three grandchildren, Robert G. (Peggy) Cormier, Sheileen Cormier (special friend, Shane Steffens), Cheryl (Larry) Skaletski; eight great-grandchildren, Bobby, Patricia, Ryan, Shawn, Lane, Jessica, Josh, Tara; her brothers and their spouses, Clinton Thornton, Patrick and Delores Thornton, John Thornton, Frank and JoJo Thornton; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Yvonne Thornton, Delores and Al Minor; many loved nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Robert Fabian Cormier; her father and mother, Lloyd and Elizabeth Thornton; one baby sister, Delia; three brothers, George, Roland and Jim Thornton; her brother-in-law, Robert Gegere and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Thornton and Helen Thornton.
    Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave. from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday (today). The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday (today) at the funeral home with Deacon Robert Nooker officiating. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park.
