    Obituary:
Donald R. Holtz, 86, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Living Tree Estates. He was born on April 28, 1928 in Appleton, to the late Herman and Eleanor (Kranzusch) Holtz.
Don took over operation of the family business (Holtz Landscaping & Nursery) from his father Herman. The place of business was located in Greenville. He was personally involved with digging and planting nursery stock until his retirement in 1995.
Don lived a simple life during retirement and enjoyed tending to his flowers and Sunday drives after church. He had a special brother and sister bond with Delores whom he resided with at the family homestead until her death in 2008.
Don was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Appleton. He loved to sing the "old" hymns and was surely noticed for his booming voice. His faith in God was evident in his everyday life.
The remaining years of his life were spent at Living Tree Estates in Greenville. He enjoyed the companionship of residents and was always entertaining the staff with his quick wit and stories.
Don is survived by 4 nieces and a nephew, along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Lyle, Robert, Earl and James, and by his sisters; Virginia Marleau and Delores Holtz.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Valley Funeral Home 2211 N. Richmond St. Appleton, with Pastor Troy Schreiner officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday from 1:00 PM until the time of service. A private burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
We would like to personally thank the staff at Living Tree for the wonderful care and love that Don received throughout the years. Thank you also to Southern Care Hospice for the care and comfort Don received during his final days.
