    Leo Frederick Tiedt, age 75, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004. Leo was born in Madison, on Feb. 12, 1928, the youngest child of Frank and Myra (Skalitsky) Tiedt. He graduated from East High School and spent two years in the Army, a portion of it spent in Japan following World War II. He met his wife, Elizabeth Anne Toonen, in Appleton in 1948, and they were united in marriage on Sept. 5, 1949. Leo was a firefighter for the city of Madison, retiring in 1983 after spending 33 years on the force. He is still remembered for the pies he used to make for the men at Station 10. Leo enjoyed his retirement - he and Betty spent time traveling throughout the United States. He also enjoyed fishing, cooking and raising tomatoes. Leo is survived by his seven children, Donna (Ken) Critchfield of Madison, Dan (Ann Sylvester) Tiedt of Fort Myers, Fla., Ken (Barb) Tiedt of Madison, Carol (David) Gouker of Madison, Jo (David) Kippert of DeForest, James (Lee Ann) Tiedt of DeForest, and Andy (Janice) Tiedt of Evansville; 11 grandchildren, James (Jackie) Critchfield, Beth (Brad) Ingraham, Jon and Amy Tiedt, Caitlyn and Kelsey Kippert, Heather, Erik, Logan and Grace Tiedt, and Meaghan Tiedt; and five great-grandchildren, Delaney, Elijah and Nathanael Critchfield and Emma and Niah Ingraham. He is further survived by two sisters, Ann Jorgenson of Stoughton and Agnes Maynor of Mount Vernon, Ill.; four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Tiedt and Marge Tiedt, both of Madison, and Toni (Murch) Lambie and Rita Chapelle, both of Appleton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty in 1997; and his two brothers, Earl (Bud) and Cyril (Cy). Funeral services will be held at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at 11 a.m. with Father Dave Runde officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
