    Obituary:
Elizabeth H. "Betty" Lauer, (nee Burns), 91, passed away quietly into the arms of her Heavenly Father on July 15, 2015, surrounded by her children and those who loved her best.
Betty was born to Daniel J. Burns, Sr., and Florence (Campbell) on July 12, 1924. She grew up in Kaukauna and Askeaton with five siblings who loved and thought the world of her. Betty graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1942, where she met her future husband, Arthur Lauer. She was crowned the "Alice in Dairlyland's" Brown County Dairy Queen in 1942, then attended St. Mary Nursing School in Milwaukee to pursue her desire to be a stewardess. This dream was cut short by "one inch" and the unexpected passing of her mother. Afterwards, she returned home to nurture and help raise her younger siblings. She aided the war effort as a student nurse. Betty was swept off her feet by Arthur at a dance at Romy's Nitingale; they wed in 1948. After marrying, they began a journey that took them from a family of two to a family of twelve. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Kaukauna, where she attended Mass. Betty had a deep faith and love for our Lord, Jesus Christ and his Blessed Mother.
Betty was a woman of common sense and uncommon talent. She was a fount of knowledge and Irish wit. She bested her children in many a foot race and could break an apple in half with her hands. Betty was unbeatable in any word game and loved crafting beautiful gifts with her hands, and passed that knowledge onto her children. She was proud of her Irish heritage and made sure that everyone knew it. Betty was also a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She loved to golf and spent a lot of time at Countryside Golf Course where she was the secretary of the Thursday Morning Ladies League.
Betty is survived by her ten children, Marcia Lynch, David (Terri) Lauer, Dennis (Nancy) Lauer, Richard Lauer (friend Vicki Van Dinter), Kathleen Siebers, Karen (Dan) Hurst, Lynn (Frank) DeLuney, MaryBeth (Leon) Lipp, Robert (Joannie) Lauer, and Sara (Gregory) Beatty; and her grandchildren, Erin, Megan, and Kevin; Michelle, Elizabeth, Kenneth, and David; Laura, Jenny, and Katie; Doug, Andrea, Greg, and Nick; Rory, Matt, Abby, Hannah, and Jordan; Meliah, Julie, Eric, Adam, and Leon; Andrew, Jack, Nora, Benjamin, David, Bridget, Lucy, Gretchen, Kara, and Clark. She is further survived by 40 great grandchildren.
Betty is also survived by her loving sisters, Mary Dietzen and Alice (Dave) Huss and her brother, Dr. Robert Burns; her brother-in-law, Harold and Gloria (Hopfensperger) Lauer; and her sister-in-law, C. Joan (Gilbert) Lauer. Her posterity will continue to grow to hear about "Great Betty" and her love for us.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur A. Lauer; a grandson Arthur Kenneth Lauer; her parents, Daniel and Florence Burns; Arthur's parents, Michael and Marie (Wolf) Lauer; her brothers, John "Jack" and Ruth (Baker) Burns and Daniel "Bud" and Rose Marie (Morrison) Burns; her sister-in-law, Virginia (Moore) Burns; and her brother-in-law, Ron Dietzen; as well as Arthur's siblings, Genevieve (Ray) Wiskerchen; Ralph and Lillian (Vande Yacht) Lauer; and Gerald Lauer.
The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2015, at ST. KATHERINE DREXEL PARISH, ST. MARY CHURCH, 119 W. Seventh Street, Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating.
