Obituary:
Margaret Mary Handler, age 84, of Neenah, went home to Jesus peacefully Thursday, June 9, 2005, at Cherry Meadows Hospice with her family by her side. She was born February 26, 1921 in Kimberly, daughter of Joseph and Anna (De Leeuw) Thein. She was a graduate of Kimberly High School where she was an avid competitive swimmer winning many awards. Margaret married Arthur Handler, August 24, 1940, in Kimberly. She was employed by Kimberly Clark Corporation before becoming a full-time homemaker and mother to her four children.
She was an active member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah serving as head communion distributor to the terminally ill at Theda Clark Medical Center. She was also a member of the Human Concerns Committee at St. Margaret Mary Church.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Arthur Lawrence Handler; her four children: Joseph (Tina) Handler, Lake Havasu, AZ; James (Donna) Handler, Neenah; Ginny (John) Koppel, Walnut Creek CA; Michael (Kelly) Handler, Neenah; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters: Eleanor Schreiber, Thelma (Joseph) Polman, Marie VanRossom and Betty Biese; a brother, Lawrence (Rosemary) Thein.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, June VanderVelden; and brothers: Russell, Jack and William "Billy" Thein.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2005, at St. Margaret Mary Church with Rev. Michael Ingold officiating. Interment will be in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Margaret Mary Church for missions. Her deep faith and devotion to God were a moving example to all whose lives she touched.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to the medical team in the ER at Theda Clark Medical Center, the wonderful staff at Cherry Meadows Hospice, the VNA Residential Living Community and St. Paul's Villa, Kaukauna.
