    He served in the United States Army under General Patton, and was highly decorated. He earned a Victory Medal, American Theatre Ribbon, European/African/ Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, four bronze battle stars, two Overseas Service Bars, a Good Conduct Medal, and a Bronze Star Medal. Roy was a member of Kaukauna's American Legion Post #41.

    Kaukauna - For seventy years, Roy Wentzel had never missed his beloved Genevieve's birthday. After her passing on November 1, 2017, he vowed not to miss her next birthday, and on May 2, 2018 (Gen's birthday) Jesus called Roy home to heaven and reunited him with his wife of seven decades.The funeral liturgy for Roy will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna, with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Full military honors will follow the service. Friends and family are invited to gather at the church on Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Roy and Genevieve will be laid to rest together this spring at Holy Cross Cemetery.

    Roy Davis Wentzel was born in the Town of Wolf River on November 16, 1921, son of the late George Wentzel and Blodwin (Davis) Wentzel. He was a graduate of Omro High School, the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh, and held a Master's Degree. From 1942 until 1945, he served in the United States Army under General Patton, and was highly decorated. He earned a Victory Medal, American Theatre Ribbon, European/African/ Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, four bronze battle stars, two Overseas Service Bars, a Good Conduct Medal, and a Bronze Star Medal. Roy was a member of Kaukauna's American Legion Post #41. Most will remember Roy for being a high school chemistry teacher for many years at both Kaukauna and Brillion.
    His free time found him fishing, hunting, working on his vegetable garden, ballroom dancing, and skiing. He also had a passion for photography.
    Roy is survived by his children: Judith (Kenneth) Kaphingst of Pembine; Jean (Larry) Davidson of Middleton; Karen (Michael) Wilquet of Seymour; Tina (Thomas) McCabe of Bagley; Richard (Linda) Wentzel of Appleton; David (Mary Jo) Wentzel of Metamora, Illinois; Jerome (Pam) Wentzel of Waupaca; Ann (Thomas) Rohleder of Rochester, Minnesota; Mary Christensen of Appleton; and Mark (Kirsten) Wentzel of Plover. He is also survived by two daughters-in-law: Sheila Wentzel of Hortonville and Donna Wentzel of Chilton; a son-in-law: Richard Arent of Menasha. There are thirty grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a sister: Lois (Reg) Bidwell and a sister-in-law: Helen Wentzel. Other survivors include Gen's family: Clarence Wirtz, Richard (Barbara) Wirtz, Jerome (Sue) Wirtz, and Joanne (Jack) Hackman.
    Roy was preceded in death by two sons: James and Robert Wentzel; his siblings: Bruce Wentzel, Ardyth (Rodney) Hoeft, Marion (Kenneth) Shuck, and Leslie Wentzel; as well as Gen's family: Ann (Fred) Defilipps, Marie (Micky) Graveen, Theresa (Larry) Arnold, Isabel (Richard) Acott, Frances (John) Albrecht, George (Betty) Wirtz, and Bernard Wirtz; and Kathy Wirtz.

    Chilton - In the early morning hours of April 17th, James Roy Wentzel lost his battle with cancer and was released from his worldly body into the eternal bliss of the universe. It took his body but it could not take his spirit. Jim was his loving, compassionate and humble self up to the very end. With his loving wife beside him, Jim left this world and joined those that had gone before him. He enjoyed the outdoors, going up north, sitting by a lake or canoeing it. He was a loving father and devoted husband to the woman of his dreams for over 45 years. Jim loved his family and the life that he lived.
    James Roy Wentzel was born in Oshkosh on August 25th, 1949 to Roy and Genevieve Wentzel. He grew up in Kaukauna, raising his family and a large garden in the Town of Stockbridge. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant while being stationed in Vietnam. Jim worked as a computer network analyst at Kimberly-Clark for over 30 years where he was deeply respected and beloved by his co-workers. Personally and professionally everyone enjoyed Jim's kind and friendly demeanor. Wherever he went people commented, "He was such a nice guy".
    Jim is survived by his beloved soulmate and wife Donna (Wyngaard) Wentzel of Chillton; two sons, Sam (Jaime) Hermantown, Minnesota and Aaron (Olivia) Green Bay; his father Roy Wentzel of Kaukauna; 10 siblings Judith (Kenneth) Kaphingst of Pembine; Jean (Larry) Davidson of Middleton; Karen (Michael) Wilquet of Seymour; Tina (Thomas) McCabe of Bagley; Richard (Linda) Wentzel of Appleton; David (Mary Jo) Wentzel of Peoria, Illinois; Jerome (Pam) Wentzel of Waupaca; Ann (Thomas) Rohleder of Rochester, Minnesota; Mary Christensen of Appleton; Mark (Kirsten) Wentzel of Plover and a sister-in-law Sheila Wentzel of Hortonville. Jim (Papa) is also survived by three loving grandchildren Mari, Linnea and Marcus Wentzel. Other survivors include his aunts and uncles; Clarence Wirtz, Jerome (Sue) Wirtz, Joanne (Jack) Hackman, Barbara Wirtz, Lois Bidwell and Helen Wentzel. There are also 33 nieces and nephews, other relatives and cherished friends Glenny and Jerry Franzen, Bonnie and Phil Hartzheim and Ann and Terry Grissman.
    Jim was preceded in death by his mother Genevieve Wentzel, his brother Bob, aunts and uncles Ann and Fred Defilipps, Marie and Micky Graveen, Theresa and Larry Arnold, Isabel and Richard Acott, Frances and John Albrecht, George and Betty Wirtz, Bernard Wirtz, Kathy Wirtz, Bruce Wentzel, Ardyth and Rodney Hoeft, Marion and Kenneth Shuck and Leslie Wentzel.
    Visitation for Jim will be at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W Main St) in Chilton from 1:00PM to 3:30PM on Sunday April 22, 2018 with a sharing of memories at 3:30 PM.
    In memory of Jim and his love of nature, in lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established to place a memorial bench at Jim's favorite Up North lake.

    Obituary:
    Robert Wentzel, 59, of Hortonville, passed away from esophageal cancer after a brief but courageous fight, on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, with his family at his side. He was born on October 12, 1951, in Green Bay, the son of Roy and Genevieve (Wirtz) Wentzel. Bob graduated from Kaukauna High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Philadelphia and Iceland. On May 19, 1973, he married Sheila Marzahl in Kaukauna. Bob proudly worked at Appleton Papers for thirty-seven years, where he was liked by many.
    Bob will be deeply missed by his wife of 37 years, Sheila Wentzel; their two sons: Jacob and Max Wentzel; his parents: Roy and Genevieve Wentzel, Kaukauna; eleven siblings: Judy (Ken) Kaphingst, Pembine; Jim (Donna) Wentzel, Chilton; Jean (Larry) Davidson, Middleton; Karen (Mike) Wilquet, Seymour; Tina (Tom) McCabe, Bagley; Richard (Linda) Wentzel, Appleton; David Wentzel, Tyrone, Pennsylvania; Jerome (Pam) Wentzel, Waupaca; Ann (Tom) Rohleder, Rochester, Minnesota; Mary (Richard Arendt) Christensen, Menasha and Mark (Kirsten) Wentzel, Plover; mother-in-law: Doris Marzahl; sisters-in-law: Gail Marzahl and Pamela (Brian) Tuyls. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Bob was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Karl Marzahl.
    The funeral service for Bob will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2010, at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 209 S. Allen Street, Appleton, with Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Interment will take place at Union Cemetery, Kaukauna. A time of visitation and support will be held on Monday from 3 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
    Sheila and her sons would like to thank Dr. Erica Meyer, ER Dr.; Donna, Oncology RN; and Kim, ICU RN, all at Appleton Medical Center, for your excellent care and compassion.
