Van Ess, Patricia (Pat Besaw)
Patricia (Pat Besaw) Van Ess, 66, Oconto, formerly of Green Bay, passed away peacefully at home, Monday morning, May 28, 2007, with her family at her side. Born on Feb. 27, 1941, in Green Bay, she is the daughter of the late John and Nellie (Vanden Heuvel) Besaw. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy, Class of 1958. On Sept. 25, 1965, Pat married Maynard Van Ess, formerly of Humboldt. Pat began her employment at A.C. Neilson, H.C. Prange Co., and retired from Psychiatric Services in 1998. After retirement she and her Maynard moved to Oconto. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, baking with her grandchildren and reading.
She is survived by her best friend and loving husband of 41 years, Maynard; three children, Jim Van Ess and Rodney DeQuaine, Green Bay; John Van Ess and Kim Cudnohoski, Stiles; and Jane and Don Caya, Racine; six grandchildren, Emily, Lauren and Kaitlin Caya, and Cierra, Breezi, Chynna Perdue; siblings, Marjorie Horkman, Green Bay; Donald "Gordy" and Anna Mae, Eugene, Ore.; Rosemary and Jerry DeKeyser, Dyckesville; mother-in-law, Ruby Van Ess, Oconto; four sisters-in-law, Joan Van Ess, Cathy Besaw, and Carol Besaw, Bernice Besaw, all of Green Bay; brothers-in-law, Lyle Van Ess and Clyde Van Ess, Green Bay; many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Roland "Dick", Gerald "Jerry", Robert "Bob" and Francis "Frank" Besaw; brothers-in-law, Elroy Van Ess, Henry "Hank" Horkman; niece, Mary Johnson; and nephew, Dick De Keyser.
Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., on Thursday after 2 p.m. until time of service. Memorial Service 4 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home with Fr. Tim Shillcox, O.Praem officiating. Entombment in Fort Howard Mausoleum. Online condolences may be sent to the Van Ess Family at www.prokowall.com .
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established in Pat's name.
The family would like to express a special thank you to St. Mary's ICU and 5th Floor Nursing Staff for their kind and gentle care; Nurse Practitioner Ruth Bloesl and the staff of Prevea Clinic; Heartland Hospice, especially Barb; and also her "sister" Joan Van Ess.
