    Notes:

    Birth:
Had birth location as Bavaria, Austria, which would be correct at the time of his birth (Parts of Bavaria were part of Austria from 1806-1918) but today, Bavaria is the largest state in Gemany.

    Family History Researcher:
Joseph Bauer came to the United States from Bavaria, Germany with his parents, Joseph Sr. and Margaret Ritch Bauer, his brothers, George, Fritz and Wolfgang and his sisters, Elizabeth and Mary about 1844. They settled in Mayville, Wisconsin, (Dodge County) later moving to Woodville, Wisconsin. (The name Woodville was changed to St. John in Calumet County, Wisconsin.)
Joseph and Sophie were married in 1860 at St. Frances Catholic Church, Hollandtown, Wisconsin- Brown County. They lived on a farm located southwest of Woodville (St. John).
In 1881, the Bauers (Joseph and Sophie and family) moved via covered wagon to Clark County, Wisconsin to a farm located one mile south of Spokeville. An infant son was born and was buried on this farm. The home they had was a log house. There were two bedrooms upstairs- one for the boys and one for the girls.
Joseph's parents are buried at St. John.
Joseph G., William and Anna Caroline remained in St. John for a short time when the rest of the family moved to Loyal.
