    Obituary:
Wesley R. Ring, Appleton, age 75, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at Appleton Medical Center. Wes was born on January 5, 1929, in Appleton, to the late Ewald and Rena (Gehring) Ring. He married Dorothy Groat on April 11, 1953, and last year they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Wes proudly served in the U.S. Army, having been called up in 1951; he served in Army Boat Maintenance during the Korean War. In 1963 Wes and Dorothy founded Modern Sheet Metal; he retired from the firm in 1995. When Grand Chute began a police force in 1968, Wes was one of the first two officers. He enjoyed hunting at his favorite spot at Pembine and loved to fish. For many years he and a friend shared a boat and fished for salmon on Lake Michigan.
Wes was a longtime member of the Valley Club of Racing Pigeons and upon his retirement returned to an old hobby of raising bees. He loved his church, Christus Lutheran. Wes helped in its creation, from the selection of the building site to raising walls and pounding nails. During the summer, Wes liked nothing better than to sit in the park he and Dorothy created at their home. With his dog at his side he would watch his pigeons fly and bees work.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy; his children and grandchildren, David (Nina) Ring, and their children, Jeff (Sarah) Ring, and Laura and Lisa Ring, Appleton; Patti Ring, Milwaukee; Tom Ring (fiancee Patti Eben and her son, Dan), Appleton; his sisters, Lois Rehmer, Appleton; Jane (John) Butala, Royal Oak, Michigan; his twin brother, Ewald "Bud" Ring, Darboy; and Roy (Betsy) Ring, Hilbert; his sisters-in-law, Arlene (Don) Newton, Pensacola, Florida; Ruth Atkins, Lodi, California; and Mildred Wichman, Gillett, Wisconsin; and his special aunt, Sophia Kocha, Seymour.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James.
Funeral services will be at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at CHRISTUS LUTHERAN CHURCH, N1915 Julius Drive, Greenville. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
