    See Image Mitchell, Robert D., "Speedy ", Kaukauna Age 85, passed away on Friday evening, September 5, 2003 at his home aft er an extended illness. He was born on February 16, 1918 in Detroit, MI t he son of the late Forest and Madeline (Brill) Mitchell. On February 27, 1 943 he married Harriet Kuhn in Kaukauna. She passed away on September 1 4, 1987. He served his country in the United States Navy during World W ar II in the South Pacific Theater. He returned to Kaukauna and took ov er operation of his father's tavern formerly known as Speedy's in Kaukaun a. After his retirement he was a well known bartender at the Starlite Cl ub until he was 80 years old. Speedy was an avid Packer fan, and was kno wn to love a good game of cribbage. In past years, he especially enjoyed h unting and fishing at his cottage at Roberts Lake.He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be sadly miss ed by his children, Janice Ellis of Houston, Texas; Donald (Donna) Mitche ll of Appleton; and Alan (Cheryl) Mitchell of Kaukauna; his grandchildr en Todd and Terry Mitchell both of Appleton; Tyler Mitchell of Thornton, C olorado; and Amy Ellis of Houston, Texas; his brother Gary (Helen) Mitche ll of Kaukauna.He was preceded in death by his wife Harriet, his brother Melvin (Edna) Mi tchell, and his sister Jean (Frank) Theunis.A funeral service for Robert will be conducted on Monday, September 8, 20 03 at 11:00 AM at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 GRIGNON STREET in Kaukaun a. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton, Frien ds may call on Monday at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of the ser vice. A memorial fund is being established.
