    Mary Jane Stumpf, age 95, of Appleton, passed away at St. Paul Home, Kaukauna, on Saturday, April 30, 2016. Mary Jane was born on June 18, 1920, in Appleton, to the late Gustav and Henrietta (Kleuskens) Ristow. She married Donald Joseph Stumpf on September 11, 1948, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton; he preceded her in death in 1983. Mary Jane was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Monte Alverno Retreat House member, and a life member of St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary. She was employed at Prange, Kitz & Pfeil Hardware and Griesbach Grocery. Mary Jane was well-known for her bowling skills and sang in the St. Pius Catholic Church Funeral Choir for many years. She was dedicated to faith, love and service.
    Survivors include her son, Jeff Stumpf; her grandsons, Brian and Nathan Stumpf and their mother, Kathe Julin; her sisters, Elayne Schabow, Grace Wege and Carole Ristow; and her special friend, Joyce Nyman. Mary Jane is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her infant brothers, Kenneth and Melvin and her infant sister, Ione; her brothers, Gordon Ristow and Arvin Ristow; and her sister, Bernice Muraski; her sister-in-law, Janet; and her brothers-in-law, Leo and Lloyd.
    The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016, at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W. Marquette Street, Appleton, with Fr. Thomas J. Farrell officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. A memorial has been established in Mary Jane's name. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at St. Paul Home and the St. Paul Home Hospice Program, especially Melissa, Holly and Sue.     Wounds Fatal to Appleton Soldier
    Private Arvin J Ristow died Nov. 22 of wounds received in action on Nov. 20 in France, the war department has informed his wife, the former Ruth Grootemont, who lives at 510 W. College avenue. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Gust Ristow, 802 W. Harris street.
    Born Dec. 16, 1923, in Appleton, Ristow attended Appleton High school and was employed by the Gilbert Paper company, Menasha, before entering the service March 3, 1943. He was a member of St. Mary church, the Holy Name society and the Catholic War Veterans.
    Entering the army, he trained at Fort Lewis, Wash., took part in the Louisiana maneuvers and then was stationed at Camp Phillips, Kans., before going overseas in September. He served with the military police of an infantry division.
    Survivors, besides the wife and parents, are one brother, Sergeant Gordon, Warrensburg, Mo.; and five sisters, Mrs. Leo Muraski, Appleton, and Mary Jane, Elaine, Grace and Carol, at home.
    A requiem high mass has been arranged for 9 o'clock Tuesday morning at St. Mary church.

    Obituary:
    Appleton - Age 92, passed away at Brookdale Senior Living in Appleton on Friday, June 29, 2018. Elayne was born on April 6, 1926 in Appleton to the late Gustav and Henrietta (Kleuskens) Ristow. After attending high school at Appleton West, Elayne met and then married the love of her life, Lloyd "Lefty" Schabow on May 26, 1948 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Appleton. They spent the next 55 years together raising two boys and living the life before Lloyd passed away on July 16, 2003.
    Elayne was a lifelong bridge player-she absolutely loved to play cards. She was a great cook and dessert maker, loved to socialize (on the phone) and of course she loved to shop.
    Elayne was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was dedicated to her faith. She had a loving smile and a warm heart for every person she ever met throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her even those who only knew her a short time at Brookdale.
    Elayne is survived by her son David Schabow, grandchildren Brianna and Conner and their mother Michele Schabow, sisters Grace Wege and Carole Ristow. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
    Elayne is preceded in death by her parents, her infant brothers Kenneth and Melvin, her infant sister Ione; her brothers Gordon Ristow and Arvin Ristow; sisters Bernice Muraski and Mary Jane Stumpf; sister-in-law Janet Ristow, brothers-in-law Donald J. Stumpf, Richard Wege and Leo Muraski. And most recently by her son Robert Schabow, who passed away on April 14, 2018.
    The funeral liturgy will be at 12:00 Noon on Friday, July 6, 2018 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 South State Street, Appleton, with Fr. William Swichtenberg officiating. Friends will be received at St. Mary Catholic Church at 10:00 AM until the time of service. Entombment will be at Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
    Elayne's family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale, especially Rose and Rachel, and to Compassus Hospice for all their care and compassion and support and comfort during her transition-thank you Jina. And to all, your kindness will not be forgotten.
    Memorials to St. Mary Catholic Church in Elayne's name are appreciated.
