    Ruth Marie Hartstern, 87, Menasha, formerly of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2015. She was born on October 31, 1927, in Green Bay the daughter of the late Clarence and Helen (Smits) Maes. Ruth married Kurt Hartstern on May 10, 1947, at St. Mary's of the Angels Church and he preceded her in death on September 10, 1987. She loved traveling and after her husband's passing was a member of the Rainbow Club.
    Ruth is survived by her daughters, Carla (Lindy) Euclide of Hilbert, and Lori (Tim) Moy of Menasha; sons, Steven Hartstern (Michelle Burt) of Green Bay, and Jonathon Hartstern of Menasha; daughter-in-law, Joan Hartstern of Kenosha; grandchildren, Amy Hartstern, Katelyn Hartstern, Katherine Hartstern, Anthony Hartstern, Brenda (Craig) Weitermann, Becky (Jim) Scully, Beth (Andrew) Detienne, Todd (Christy) Euclide, Jason (Traci) Meulemans, Justin Meulemans, Benjamin Moy, and Michaela Moy; great grandchildren, Alec, Nicolas, Julia, Jacob, Katelyn, Emily, Ella, Jordyn, and Raelyn; 3 brothers, Richard (Anne) Maes, James (Sharon) Maes, and Thomas (Bonnie) Maes; 3 sisters, Doris Diny, Betty (Lee) Olson, and Mary Deprey; sister-in-law, Pat Maes; special friend, Jim Stein.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 40 years, Kurt; daughter, Julianne; son, Daniel; and infant son, Jeffrey; 3 brothers, John (Jean) Maes, Francis Maes, and Larry (Sharon) Maes; 2 sisters, Phyllis (James) Doyen, Jean (Jerry) Fameree; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kenneth Paral, Larry Diny, Daniel Deprey, and Gail Maes.
    Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird Street, Sunday from 4:00-8:00 PM. Parish wake service 7:30 PM. Monday's visitation will continue at St. Mary's of the Angels Church, 645 S. Irwin Ave., Green Bay, from 12:30 PM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 1:30 PM with the Rev. Tony Cirignani, OFM officiating. Burial at Allouez Catholic Cemetery.     James E. Maes, 79, Sun City, Arizona, formerly of Kelly Lake and Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 5, 2016. He was born on January 30, 1937, in Green Bay, the son of late Clarence and Helen (Smits) Maes.
    James married Sharon Stevenson on April 20, 1963, in Green Bay. They recently celebrated their anniversary of 53 beautiful years together, raising their family and having fun with friends. James retired from James Rivers Paper Company after 40 years, and enjoyed his retirement with Sharon as snowbirds, traveling between Kelly Lake and Sun City, Arizona.
    James is survived by his wife, Sharon Maes; his children, Douglas (Wendy) Maes of Howard, Jill (Michael) Stencil of Suamico, Dennis (Mary) Maes of Glendale, Arizona, and Heather (Alan) Deutschendorf of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jerod Maes, Ryan Maes, Kimberly Stencil, Kristen Stencil, Alan Deutschendorf III, and Natalie Deutschendorf; his mother-in-law, Erma Stevenson; his siblings, Thomas (Bonnie) Maes, Doris Diny, Mary Deprey, and Betty (Lee) Olson; sisters-in-law, Pat Maes, and Shirley Steingraber; brother-in-law, Scott (Diana) Stevenson.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Orin Stevenson; his siblings, Ruth (Kurt) Hartstern, Phyllis (James) Doyen, John (Jean) Maes, twin sister Jean (Jerry) Fameree, Richard (Anne) Maes, Larry (Sharon) Maes, and Frank Maes; brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law Kenneth Paral, Larry Diny, Daniel Deprey, Gail Maes, and Donald Steingraber.
    Friends and family may call at Saints Edward & Isidore Catholic Church, 3667 Flintville Road, Suamico, from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, September 24. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 24 at church with Rev. David Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow at Saints Edward & Isidore Cemetery. Proko-Wall Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
    The Maes family would like to thank Hospice of the West for the care they provided James. They would also like to thank the many family members, friends and neighbors who have visited and offered prayers and support.

    Daniel J. Hartstern, 55, Kenosha, passed away suddenly, Tuesday, April 14th, 2009. Born in Green Bay, on December 19, 1953, he was the son of Kurt and Ruth (Maes) Hartstern and spent most of his life in Appleton. Dan was the Vice President at Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville. He had previously served as the finance director for the City of Appleton.
    Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Joan of Kenosha; his four children: Amy Jo of Chicago, IL; Anthony, Katelyn and Katherine, all of Kenosha; his mother Ruth of Appleton; two brothers: Steven (Brenda) Hartstern of Green Bay, and Jonathon of Appleton; two sisters: Carla (Lindy) Euclide of Hilbert, and Lori (Tim) Moy of Appleton; father-in-law, Norbert (Carol) West, Sr. of Appleton; brothers-in-law: Norbert (Linda) West, Jr. of Appleton, Steven (Karen) West of Hortonville, and Andrew (Donna) West of Eagle River; and sister-in-law, Barbara West of Appleton.
    A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19th at Proko Funeral Home, Kenosha from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. On Monday, visitation will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Appleton from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. and Mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Allouez Catholic Cemetery, Green Bay with full military honors at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be greatly appreciated.
