    Joan M. Diedrich, 80 of Appleton, was born to eternal life on, Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Appleton Medical Center. Joan was born on March 22, 1934 in Appleton to the late Paul and Evelyn (St. Louis) Ganzen. She was a lifetime resident of Appleton, graduating from Appleton High School. On October 3, 1953 she was united in marriage to Joseph Diedrich at St. Therese Catholic Church in Appleton. Joseph preceded her in death on July 25, 2002.
    Joan was a charter member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Appleton. She was an avid shopper and sports fan, she enjoyed cheering on the Packers and Badgers, cooking, keeping up with current events and history. Joan loved her 6 little angels; she was an excellent mother, with a heart of gold. Joan had a large family, and was able to keep up with everything going on in all their lives. She was thoughtful and caring and instilled these values in her family. Joan was so truly loved and will be greatly missed by her family.
    Joan is survived by her five children; Diane (Michael) Smith, Joseph (Kathleen) Diedrich, Linda (Daniel) Kahler, Janet (Jeff) Tessen, and Karen (Donald) Marx, by son-in-law, Bryan Mangan, 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, by her sister Yvonne Smith, and by sisters-in-law Florence (Ray) VandenHeuvel, and Rita VanBoxtel. Also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph, daughter Donna Mangan, and brothers-in-law; George Smith and Ernie VanBoxtel.
    A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Valley Funeral Home 2211 N. Richmond St. Appleton. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.     Kay F. Thurk, age 71, passed away peacefully at her home in Appleton on Friday, February 8, 2013. Kay was born on August 21, 1941, daughter of the late Francis "Mac" and Lida (Smits) McGinnes. She graduated from Appleton High School. Kay then continued her education as an X-ray technician and worked at St Elizabeth Hospital.
    Kay was an avid Chicago Bears fan and loved playing bingo. She also enjoyed working as a crossing guard and taking care of her dog, Murphy. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her children and family.
    Kay is survived by three children: John (Hong) Thurk, Michael (Meridith) Thurk, Mary Frances (special friend, Brian Heintz), grandchildren, Isabella and Tianchi, who were the light of her life; and one sister, Patricia Maloney. She is further survived by her nephews Bill Maloney and his daughter Kelsey, Dan (Amy) Maloney and their children Jack, Charlie and Henry, and Joe (Christine) Maloney and their son Mac; special friends: Sharon (Joe) Rupiper, Elaine (Paul) Hemauer, Jane (Fritz) Jilek, Nicki (Bob) Mech, Joan Blatz and all of her co-workers at St. Elizabeth Hospital; grand dogs: Buddy, Taeger and Chester; and grand cats: Louise and Oliver; as well as other relatives and friends.

    David Carl Kositzke, age 66, died unexpectedly on February 18, 2014 in Palmetto, Florida. He was born May 23, 1947, in Appleton to the late Clarence and Harriet (Smits) Kositzke. David graduated from Appleton's Xavier High School in 1965 and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 1969. He joined the U.S. Army in 1971, served in Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1974. He then moved to Huntsville, Alabama, and worked in missile intelligence at Redstone Arsenal. He later relocated to Northern Virginia and worked in Marine intelligence at Marine Corps Base Quantico. After retiring in 2004 he returned to Appleton.
    He enjoyed dancing and belonged to several clubs. He volunteered with the Outagamie County Historical Society and with the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King. He helped with rebuilding efforts in Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. His hobbies included model making and wood working. He was a member of Fox Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.
    David will be sadly missed by his daughter, Petra (Nicholas) Price and two granddaughters, Miriam and Julia, of Madison, Alabama; brother, Ken (Carole) Kositzke; sisters, Betty Sommers and Mary (Patrick) Kiley, all of Appleton; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and good friends. David was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews, Kurt Kositzke and David Marschner.
    The funeral service for David will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME downtown chapel followed by full military honors. Interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in Appleton. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and again on Thursday morning from 10:00 am until the time of service.

    Ralph R. Palm, Appleton, 63, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at Parkside Care Center. He was born in Appleton on Sept. 10, 1943, to the late Joseph and Dorothy (Zuleger) Palm. On July 24, 1980, he married Karen A. Lauer. Ralph loved playing cards, cooking, listening and dancing to Polka music. He also enjoyed following the Brewers. He spent many years farming.
    Ralph is survived by his wife of 27 years, Karen; two children, Sara (Jim) Birling, Black Creek and Mike (Patty) Pickerill, Mt. Vernon, Ind.; grandchildren, Ashley, David, Kenzie and Mikey Pickerill; sister, Sr. Angela (Mary Palm); brother, Mike Palm, Sr.; sister-in-law, Kathy Palm; godchildren, Jackie Palm and Ann Funk; nephew, Mike Palm, Jr.; mother-in-law, Karene Lauer; and special cousin, Raymond Palm.
    Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; twin brothers, and father-in-law, LeRoy Lauer Sr.
    Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, after 3 p.m. until the time of funeral at 5 p.m. at Holy Spirit Parish (Holy Angels site, Darboy). The Rev. Donald Zuleger will officiate.     Anthony "Tony" D. Zuleger, age 69 of Black Creek, Wisconsin, died surrounded by his loving family at Cherry Meadows, Appleton, on Thursday afternoon, May 8, 2014, following a long battle with chronic illness and cancer.
    Tony was born in Appleton, Wisconsin on November 20, 1944, son of Stanley and Mabel (Blodgett) Zuleger. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1966. On May 3, 1969, Tony married Sally Ann Everett at Bethany Lutheran Church in Appleton. They enjoyed 45 wonderful years of marriage. Tony was employed by Kimberly Clark for 34 years until his retirement in 2001.
    Tony lived for other people. He was always making others happy with his big heart while looking for a good conversation over lunch with family and friends. Tony was extremely active person. He started the Fox Valley R/C club, was a member of the Broken Wheel Riding Club, and raced stock cars at Wisconsin International Raceway for many years. He enjoyed motorcycling and giving rides on his trike, traveling the United States with Sally in their RV, making furniture, and helping the local farmers.
    Tony is survived by his wife, Sally; daughters, Rebecca (Jim) Stelter of Champlin, MN, and Tess (Tim) Eckstein of Omro; sons, Lance Zuleger of Appleton, and Luke (Janet) Zuleger of Greenville; and seven grandchildren, Sheridan and Riley Stelter, Kyle Zuleger, David and Amber Zuleger, and Tader and Gracie Eckstein.
    He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ginny Verstagen.
    The funeral service for Tony will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2104, at Trinity Lutheran Church, (W6399 Cty Hwy O, Appleton) with Rev. Ronald Ash officiating. Family and friends may visit directly at church Tuesday morning from 8:30 until 11:15 a.m.
    The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff at Cherry Meadows, 4th Floor Oncology at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Theda Care Hospice, and especially to Amanda Leon for the exception care provided to Tony.

    Robert "Bob" Last, Jr, of Appleton, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013, after a long illness, at the age of 58. He was born June 30, 1954, in Appleton, son of the late Robert Sr. and Genevieve Last. Bob was also preceded in death by a brother, Jerry. He has no surviving relatives.
    Bob graduated from Xavier High School in Appleton, class of 1972, and held several positions with local companies in the Fox Valley after graduation. His last place of employment before his illness was as an auto salesman for the Bergstrom Automotive company in Appleton, Wisconsin.
    Bob's most cherished times included boating, cooking and camping, and he was an avid Packer fan all his life. He had a deep affection for his loyal pets: Askum, Buddyweiser and Macey. Bob will be long remembered by his friends for his remarkable story telling and his ability to share his experiences with those that touched his life.
    Bob's cremated remains will be spread at the Memory Garden at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Appleton.
    A very special thank you to the Matthew's House in Darboy where Bob spent his last days, especially Kim, also to Theda Care Hospice (Erin, Jordan and Jill), for the special care they gave Bob, and to his friend John, who was always there to take him shopping every Friday. Thanks also to his longtime friends: Jill, Haley and Ashley, who were at his side at his passing, for all of this, we will all be grateful. He will be missed by all.
