Obituary:
Joyce I. Byrne, age 85, Town of Freedom, passed away at home, Saturday, Dec 9, 2006. She was born on Nov. 13, 1921, to Rollin John and Bertha (McNerney) Hanson in Lowville, Wis. She was a teacher in Outagamie and Milwaukee Counties, until the time of her marriage. On June 7, 1945, she married the late Donald Byrne. She was a lifetime member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom. She is survived by her eight children, Mary Pat and Evan Neptune, Vancouver, Washington; Bill and Teri Byrne, Henderson, Texas; Terry and Joanne Byrne, Wausau; Tom and Deb Byrne, Waukesha; Mike and Elaine Byrne, Laredo, Texas; Bonnie and Kenneth Schmidt, Appleton; Dennis and Bonnie Byrne, Maple Grove, Minn.; Julaine and Mike Geldermann, Bristol, N.H.; 21 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and special friends Mary Jo Murphy and Irene Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald; her parents; eight siblings, Leo, Robert, Myron, Helen, Dorothy, Emmet, Lorena and Winifred. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at NOON on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at ST. NICHOLAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Freedom, with Father Paul DeMuth officiating. Friends will be received on Monday (TODAY), at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service and again on TUESDAY at CHURCH, from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Wisconsin. The family wishes to thank Dr. John Swanson and the staff of Fox Valley Hematology/Oncology and the staff of ThedaCare at Home.
