    Hammill, Anita M. Anita M. Hammill, age 94, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2009, at Park View Health Care Center in Oshkosh. She was born on January 2, 1915, in Kaukauna; daughter of the late Theodore and Mary (McDaniel) Van Vreede. On October 16, 1937, Anita was married to John P. Hammill in Appleton; they celebrated 43 years of marriage and the births of 8 children. They made their home in Neenah until retirement when they moved to their cottage at Berry Lake where she enjoyed many happy times with friends and family. She was devoted to her family and in addition contributed to her community thought many organizations, including the Girl Scouts and a cook at St. Gabriel School. Anita also loved gardening, nature, cooking, sewing, quilting and traveling.
    Anita is survived by seven children: Joan Parker, Escondido, CA; John (Barbara) Hammill, Fort Meyers, FL; Jim Hammill, New London, WI; Sue (Finn) Thomsen, Chicago, IL; Kathy (Mike) Egan, Gillett, WI; Mary Host, Racine, WI; Mike (Carol) Hammill, Kingsford, MI; 14 grandchildren: Lori (Anthony) Bushem, Steven (Felicia) Parker, Lisa (Robert) Bencivenga, Gregg (Connie) Hammill, Cindy (George) Jackson, Greta (Mike) Madigan, Chris Gonzales, Aimee Hammill, Cybelle Egan, Tara Egan, Andy (Amanda) Host, Sarah Host, Alisha Hammill, Zak Hammill; 12 great-grandchildren: Jesse Parker, Taylor Bushem, Cody Parker, Talia Bencivenga, Vincent Bencivenga, Ashley Vlye, Samuel Hammill, Alec Jackson, Hannah Jackson, Anthony Host; sisters and brothers: Marion Hurley, Helen John, Phyllis Mauthe, Mark Van Vreede, Jim Van Vreede, Tom (Lori) Van Vreede; sister-in-law Myrt Van Vreede and dear best, friend Arry Van Lieshout.
    Anita was preceded in death by her husband as well as her infant daughter, Patricia; son-in-law Tony Host; sisters and brother Lucille Moser, Marguerite Lamers, Jerry Van Vreede; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Esther Van Vreede, Carol Van Vreede, Bill Moser, Harold Hurley, Donald John, Larry Mauthe.
    Anita's passing is a great loss to her family, relatives and many friends who will cherish her memory and sorely miss this kind and caring mother and friend.
    The Funeral Service for Anita will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, 11:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church with Fr. Richard Allen officiating. The visitation will be at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home on Monday, March 2, from 4 until 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of the service. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Shawano .In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anita's memory to Park View Heath Center.

    Lucille Moser Kaukauna, age 89, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at St. Elizabeth. She was born November 25, 1917, to the late Theodore and Mary (McDaniel) Van Vreede in Freedom. After her mom's untimely and sudden death, Theodore married Katherine Dempsey who raised Lucille. She married Willard "Bill" P. Moser on December 28, 1940. He preceded her in death on September 25, 1991. Lucille grew up on the family farm in Freedom until she started her lifelong career of elementary teacher and homemaker (aka Super Mom). She worked for many years at St. John Grade School in Little Chute. Her love of reading was the foundation of her professional life, and that passion positively impacted her children. Lucille was a longtime member of St. John and St. Mary Catholic Church. She was a nature enthusiast, enjoying fishing and hiking at High Cliff. Lucille enjoyed knitting afghans, board games, cribbage and sheepshead, as well as family Sunday rides in the car that usually turned into sing-a- longs. In her later years, Lucille enjoyed the freedom that St. Paul Villa offered attending daily mass and rosary service.
    She is survived by her son, Bill (Linda Hermes) Moser and their son, William Hermes; three daughters: Elaine (Curtis) Nelson and her two children: Juliet (Bill) Gardner and Tim (Mary Jo) Bauer; Linda (Thomas Erickson) Moser; and Fay (Laszlo, "Les") Stumpf; her brothers and sisters: Anita Hammill, Marion Hurley, Helen John, Phyllis Mauthe, Jim Van Vreede, Mark Van Vreede, Tom (Lori) Van Vreede, Jerry (Myrt) Van Vreede and Mark Van Vreede.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Donna, brothers and sisters: Marguerite (Gordon) Lamers, John Hammill, Harold Hurley, Donald John, Larry Mauthe, Esther Van Vreede and Carol Van Vreede.
    The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2007, at ST. MARY of the ANNUNCIATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 114 West Seventh Street, Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received on Friday, May 11, 2007, at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday at Church, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial is being established in her name. Burial will take place on Monday in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Freedom. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna, is assisting the family. 920-766-2099.

    Marion Hurley, 94, of Appleton, passed away at Prairie Homes on April 23, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.
    Marion was born on April 7, 1921, daughter of the late Theodore and Mary (McDaniel) VanVreede, and raised by Katherine (Dempsey) VanVreede, the woman she knew as her mother.
    Marion was happiest helping others, especially those less fortunate. She was a volunteer at the Salvation Army for 21 years, and a volunteer at Appleton Medical Center for 16 years. Marion was a longtime member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, and volunteered bingo as well as preparing church bulletins. Marion also enjoyed sewing, gardening, and playing cards with her friends.
    Marion is survived by her children: Kay (Ken) Scheuer, Gary (Judy) Joosten, and Lynn (Larry) Fryfogle; son-in-law: Jere Gooding; brothers: Jim VanVreede, Mark VanVreede; and Tom (Lori) VanVreede; sisters: Helen John and Phyllis Mauthe; sister-in-law: Myrt VanVreede; 15 grandchilden; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Marion is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and other friends.
    She is preceded in death by: her parents; husband Jack Joosten; daughter: Jacqueline Gooding; brother: Jerome VanVreede; sisters: Marguerite (Gordon) Lamers, Anita (John) Hammil, and Lucille (Willard) Moser; and in-laws: Donald John, Larry Mauthe, Esther VanVreede, and Carol VanVreede.
    Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, May 1, 2015, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N. MCDONALD, with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. Relatives and friends may call on the family from 9:00AM until the time of service. Burial St. Joseph Cemetery.
    The family would like to extend a special thanks to both Prairie Homes and ThedaCare at Home for all the love and care given to Mom.
