Obituary:
Adrian "Jim" Kettenhofen Sr, 92, recently of Cary, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, August 30th, 2015. He was born June 22nd, 1923, in Appleton, WI, to the late Adrian Edwin and Viola Rohloff Kettenhofen. He attended St. Mary's Grade and High School, graduating in 1941. Jim played the clarinet in the school band and was Drum Major his senior year.
Jim married Dorothy Tuchsherer on August 12, 1942. The couple moved to Baltimore where Jim was employed by Martin Aircraft. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII, prior to returning to the Neenah-Menasha area in 1944.
Jim earned a Diploma from the Aeronautical University of Chicago in 1942. He was employed as a mechanical engineer at Marathon Corp and then for American Can Corporation where he worked for 35 years. He was active in the Boy Scouts for 13 years, serving as Scout Master of Troop 55. He introduced the scouts to camping skills at the local "Camp Cowling". Most exciting for Jim (and the scouts) was the annual Flambeau River white water canoe trip. He attended National Scout Jamborees and the Philmont Scout Range in northern New Mexico with each of his sons. Jim was active in the Knights of Columbus, becoming a Third Degree member of Council 1838 of Menasha. He served as a volunteer at Theda Clark Hospital for 17 years until his move to North Carolina to be near his children.
Along with his family, Jim loved hunting, volunteering at EAA events, gourmet cooking and helping his neighbors. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy. They shared 67 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2009.
Jim is survived by his children Adrian Kettenhofen Jr of Oshkosh, WI; Susan K Fallwell (Noel), of Cary, NC; Michael Ketten (Judi) of Fox Point, WI and John Kettenhofen (Joyce) of Cary, NC and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Neenah, WI at a later date.
