    Obituary:
    John Ernest Schmalz, age 80, of the Town of Harrison, passed away at St. Paul Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, March 3, 2012. John was born on January 20, 1932, in Appleton, to the late Reuben and Irene (Luniak) Schmalz. He married Patricia Smith on October 5, 1950. John was a well-known live-stock dealer and farmer who retired in 2001, and also was employed at Bergstrom Paper Mill for over 20 years. He was also a member of the Appleton Moose Lodge. John enjoyed nature: seeing the country when going up north, watching the color changes in fall, feeding and watching birds, fishing with his grandchildren, flowers and tending to his tomato plants. He also enjoyed his many friends while at the casinos. John enjoyed, more than anything else in the world, the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his very loving wife of 61 years, Patricia; his daughter, Nettie (Bob) Syring, California; his son, John (Judy) Schmalz, Little Chute; his grandchildren, Robert Jr. (Carrie) Syring and Tracy (Todd) Nankervis; his great grandchildren, Brendon, RebeccaLyn and Jeffrey, and Nolan; his sister, Janet (Jerome) Weber; his brothers, Joe Schmalz and James (Margaret) Schmalz; and his sister-in-law, Sally Schmalz. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeff who passed on December 28, 1982; his brother, Jerry Schmalz; his sister-in-law, Betty Schmalz; his nephew, Timmy Schmalz; and his aunt, Trace Schwalbach. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2012, at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLICH CHURCH, 2231 East Lourdes Drive, Appleton, with Fr. Donald Zuleger officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at St. Paul Rehabilitation Center for their loving care.

    Joseph P. Schmalz, Darboy, age 80 died on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at home with his family by his side following a brief illness. He was born March 20, 1933 in Appleton son of the late Reuben and Irene (Luniak) Schmalz. On November 7, 1967 Joe married the former Betty Schindler at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Appleton. The couple lived in the Darboy area their entire married lives. Joe worked at PH Glatfelter, formerly Bergstrom Paper, retiring in 1995. Joe and Betty enjoyed 39 years of marriage together prior to her death on December 5, 2006. Joe's first love was farming, which he did from birth until his death. He was actively involved in the Calumet County Fair, supporting his children and grandchildren in the 4H Program. He was very proud of their trips to Milwaukee participating in the State Fair. Joe was a Packer Season ticket holder, a St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed NASCAR. He and Betty enjoyed trips to the casinos. Joe loved to hunt and fish, especially spending time with the kids' ice fishing. He was a terrific grandpa and dad and loved his family with all his heart. Joe was a lifelong member of Holy Angels Catholic Church.
    He is survived by his children: Joseph (Alicia) Schmalz, Debbie (Bob Buhler) Schmalz-Buhler, Mary (Tom) Schwister and Dave Schmalz; 7 grandchildren: Kyle and Sam Schmalz, Sierra, Savannah, and Benjamin Buhler, Haley and Aaron Schwister; 1 brother and 2 sisters-in-law: Jim (Marge) Schmalz and Pat Schmalz; a brother-in-law, Jerry Weber; numerous nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty in 2006, 2 brothers and a sister-in-law: John and Jerry (Sally) Schmalz; and a sister, Janet Weber. He is further preceded in death by his wife's family: Carl, Jack, Tom and Rose Schindler; 2 nephews: Jeff and Tim Schmalz.
    Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH at Holy Angels Church, Darboy. Friends may call at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. where a parish prayer service will conclude the evening. Friends may call again on Thursday directly at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.     Janet A. Weber, Darboy, age 68, died at home on Thursday, April 4, 2013 with her family by her side. She was born August 14, 1944 in Darboy, WI daughter of the late Reuben and Irene (Luniak) Schmalz. On July 22, 1965 Janet married Jerry Weber at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Darboy. The couple lived in the Darboy vicinity their entire married lives. Janet worked at Memorial Florist for over 40 years. She also managed the couple's home business, J&J Unlimited. She was an excellent wife, mother, grandma and terrific cook. Janet loved caring for and spending time with the grandchildren. She enjoyed watching the Packers (was an avid Ray Nitschke fan), loved Willie Nelson and feeding the birds. She especially enjoyed watching the cardinals outside her window. Janet was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Darboy.
    She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Jerry; their children: Anita (Travis) Rutter, Black Creek and their daughters, Valerie and Kaylee, James (Bridget) Weber, Sherwood and their son, Nolan; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law: Joseph Schmalz, Darboy, James (Marge) Schmalz, Appleton, Patricia "Pat" Schmalz, Darboy and Lydia "Sally" Schmalz, Darboy; numerous nieces, nephews, and many special godchildren.. She is further survived by her husband's family: Dave (Peggy) Weber, JoAnn Weber, Richard (Myrla) Weber, Rita Weber, and Linda (Randy) Hawkins.
    She was preceded in death by 2 brothers: John and Jerry, and a sister-in-law, Betty Schmalz.
    The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at (Due to construction at Holy Angels Church, Darboy) HOLY SPIRIT PARISH at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 600 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly with Fr. Dave Beaudry officiating. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. concluding the evening.
