    Obituary:
Marge (Helein) Kersten spent 75 years enjoying life and enriching the lives of others. On May 31, 2015 while surrounded by her family, God called her home, where she was joyfully reunited with her parents: Henrietta and Lawrence and brothers: Jim, Bob and Bill Helein.
Marge was born in Appleton and attended St. Therese Elementary School and graduated from Appleton West High School. In 1960 she married the love of her life, Jim Kersten. After stops in Winneconne and Racine, Marge and Jim moved to Manitowoc where they raised their four children and made many treasured, life-long friends.
Marge enjoyed simple pleasures; a good conversation, family gatherings, spoiling her grandchildren, her "exercise girls", reading and game nights with Jim and friends. She always looked forward to time spent in Door County or at Lake Noquebay as well as going to St. Pete's Beach every February. Marge also loved a good fish fry; especially those prepared by her son, Paul.
Marge's family was her greatest passion and pride. Her spirit is carried on by her husband Jim; four children: Mike (Kris) Kersten, Appleton; Kathy (Mark) Pabian, Manitowoc; David (Shawna) Kersten, Excelsior, MN; Paul (Hope) Kersten, Green Bay; grandchildren: AJ Kersten; Mariah Kersten; Lexi Kersten; Adam Pabian; Nathan Pabian; Darby Kersten; Noah Kersten; Paige Kersten; step grandchildren: Laura Pabian; Sarah (Dan Grear) Pabian; Josh (Elizabeth) Pabian; Jenna (Andre) Saint Louis; great grandchild: Adelaide Grear; 6 sisters-in-law and 1 brother-in-law: Joan Helein, Appleton; Jean Helein, De Pere; Joyce Helein, Appleton; Betty Appleton, Appleton; Renee Kersten, AZ; Evelyn (Hank) Canterbury, AZ, many loved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Marge was preceded in death by her father-in-law: Francis Kersten; mother-in-law: Martha Kersten; brothers-in-law: Bob Kersten; Bob Appleton; sister-in-law: Joyce Kersten and niece: Patty Appleton.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street Manitowoc. The Rev. Dave Beaudry will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial of her cremated remains at Evergreen Cemetery. God must be so proud of the work you've done here mom! Your love, laughter and wisdom has left an imprint on our hearts. We will miss you every day. But we know that wherever we are, your love will find us.
The family of Marge would like to thank her "angel"; niece Jane Barton, Dr. Jonathan Tammela and Martha Kravoletz, for the compassionate care they provided throughout Marge's ten month battle with cancer.

    Obituary:
Bill "Willy" Helein, 70, of the Village of Harrison, passed away on October 17, 2013 after many years battling congestive heart failure. He was born on June 2, 1943 in Appleton, to the late Lawrence and Henrietta (Ritten) Helein. Bill graduated from Xavier High School in Appleton, WI in 1962. In 1964 he enlisted with the U.S. Army, where he served as a reservist until 1985. Bill married a cross town rival, St. Mary's Zephyr, Joan Schmitzer on May 7, 1966.
After graduation Bill started at S.C. Shannon then went on to work as an Electrical Lineman first for Superior Electric and then for Menasha Utilities where he retired after 32 years. He enjoyed many hobbies and interests including fishing, pheasant hunting, sturgeon spearing, tinkering in the garage, visiting his many friends and neighbors, and relaxing by the lake. He was also actively involved for 23 years in the Waverly Sanitary district and was instrumental in the construction of their new facility. Bill was most recently a member of St. Mary's Catholic Parish in Menasha.
Bill was extremely proud of his grandchildren and attended as many of their events as he could. His little furry hunting and fishing buddy "Lady" will also miss him, but don't worry Grandpa; she will be keeping Grandma's feet warm.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Joan Helein; children: Dan (Vicki) Helein of Sherwood and their children, Holly and Allie; Gary (Amy) Helein of Kaukauna and their children, Jon and Connor; sister: Marge (Jim) Kersten of Manitowoc; sisters-in-law: Jean Helein, Joyce Helein, Janice Schmitzer, Kay Plier, Nancie (Dave) Resch; brother-in-law: Mike (Mary) Schmitzer; along with many special nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Bill was preceded in death by his two brothers, Jim and Bob Helein; brothers-in-law: Jim Schmitzer, Jerry Plier and Gary Aldridge; parents-in-law: Clarence and Eleanor Schmitzer.
A funeral liturgy for Bill will be held at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH (222 E. Fremont Street, Appleton) with Fr. Don Zuleger officiating. A visitation will be held at church from 3:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the "Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research" or the charity or church of your choosing.
We would like to give thanks and God's blessings to: our children and their families for whom we are extremely proud and grateful, and without whom our lives would be empty; all our extended family for all their concerns and prayers especially Marge and Jim for their weekly visits; our many friends who are with us today and many that have passed before us; the numerous doctors and staff that have supported Bill, especially in the last eight years; and the hospice services of our day, though our time was short we will always be grateful for the peace and comfort given to us during these last days.
God Bless and with the help of our Blessed Virgin Mary bring peace and joy to all.
