    Obituary:
Brig. General Joseph J. Lingle, USAF died in Kenosha, WI, on June 25, 2009, at age 91. He was born on May 6, 1918, the son of German immigrants, Joseph and Katarina Lingl. He grew up in Kaukauna, WI. While attending Kaukauna High School, he joined a ROTC type program which he continued while attending UW-Madison. There he married his college sweetheart, Mary Jane Wastian, on December 9, 1941(two days after Pearl Harbor). He and his new bride immediately moved to the South, where he was stationed as an Army Air Corps flight instructor. His WWII overseas service began in early 1945. Captain Lingle flew 29 combat missions over Japan while logging 431 combat hours. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. After WWII he graduated from UW-Madison and worked as research chemist at the Wisconsin Highway Lab. He continued with the Reserves rising steadily in rank. In 1957 he was promoted to Commander of the 440th Tactical Troop Carrier Wing in Milwaukee, WI, where he served until 1972. He received his Brigadier General star in 1963. After 1972 he continued as a civil servant at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah, until his retirement in 1984. He and his wife then moved to Eagle River, WI, until 2002 when they moved to Kenosha, WI. He was a renaissance man interested in everything. An avid reader from a young age, his family called him the line eater. He really enjoyed remodeling his homes. His crowning achievement was the remodeling of the Eagle River home where he and his wife graciously entertained numerous family and friends. A devoted spouse, after his wife had a stroke, he spent almost every day with her from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at St. Josephs Nursing home. Then he cared for her at home himself until his own health started to fail in late 2005. He selected a home health service so that they could live together until his wife of 67 years died on May 13, 2008. He is survived by his three daughters, Jo Ann Lingle of Chicago, IL, Katherine Lingle (Alan Schaefer) and Mary Lingle Seianas (Stan); and three grandchildren, Allan (Allison) and Arthur (Lindsay) Ingraham and Sara Schaefer. He is also survived by his sister, Ann King of Kaukauna, and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents and two brothers, Peter and John Lingl preceded him in death. The family is very grateful to Drs. Trimark, Jones, Clubb, and Crewe. We are also grateful to Experienced Elderly Care, Inc, Hospice Alliance, Kenosha Visiting Nurse Association, St. Josephs Nursing Home and Day Care and the KACs Care"A -Van program. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Mark Parish in Kenosha, Blessed Sacrament Parish in Madison, KVNA, KAC, or St. Josephs Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1st, at St. Marks Catholic Church, Kenosha, from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Mass. Entombment will be on Thursday, July 2nd, at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Madison, WI, at 11:30 a.m. with military honors.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Josephs Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com

    Obituary:
    Ann C. King "Grannie Annie"
Ann Catherine King, 95, entered heaven to join her husband, Leo, on January 12, 2015 at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna, where she lived for almost seven years. She was born on October 5, 1919, in Askeaton, Wisconsin, to Joseph and Katerina Lingl. Her parents came to America in the early 1900's from what is now Croatia. When Ann started school in Kaukauna, she couldn't speak English, but thankfully, the nuns at Holy Cross spoke both German and English.
Ann loved school and was a true life-long learner. In high school she learned sewing, embroidery, and cooking "American style." Her tall stature made her a natural on the girls' basketball team. Later, she took up knitting and even learned how to reupholster furniture. She had a green thumb that kept her home full of plants and her yard full of flowers all summer. Her love of poetry inspired another talent later in life, as she wrote many uplifting poems that revealed her empathetic heart and her strong faith in God.
In 1942, Ann married the love of her life, Leo King, and they were blessed with three children. Early in their marriage Leo was drafted into the army, and when the paper mills were short of men, Ann went to work at Thilmany. While there she learned a colorful vocabulary that sometimes snuck out years later. She enjoyed working at King's Variety Store in Little Chute for many years. Then she became a demo lady at Larry's Piggly Wiggly in Kaukauna. Working in retail suited her well because she loved helping people.
Ann is survived by her three children: Dave (Paulette) King of Combined Locks; Leone (Joe) Eiting of Little Chute; and Paul (Jo Ann) King of Kaukauna. Also surviving "Grannie Annie" are her grandchildren: Scott King, Jason (Jenny) Smith, Clint (Jodie) Smith, Nichol Eiting, Paul (Emi) Eiting, Michael (Bailey) Eiting, Katherine (Travis Vande Hey) Eiting, Stephen (Allison) Eiting, Brad King, and Kelly King; her great-grandchildren: Cal, Garrett, Kansas, Landon, and Dawson King, Allison (Randy Zember) Smith, Crystal Smith, Alexandria, Andrea, and Blake Heimmermann, Justin, Kayleigh, and Dylan Smith, Mason Vande Hey, and Nathan King; her sister-in-law: Elaine King, and many nieces and nephews.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband Leo; her parents Joe and Katerina Lingl; her mother and father-in-law Ed and Margaret King; her brothers: John (Hilda) Lingl, Joe (Mary Jane) Lingl, and Pete (Barb) Lingl; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Dorothy (Ed) Spierings, Laverne (Norbert) Jansen, Lenore (Dean) Ball, Pearl (Winston) Saiberlich, Gene King, and Les Luedtke; and her grandchild, Jamie Eiting.
The funeral liturgy for Grannie Annie will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, January 16, 2015 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna, with Fr. Thomas Pomeroy officiating. Inurnment will take place in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to gather at the church on Friday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. Mom often said, if God gives you a gift, He expects you to share it with others. She was happiest when she was able to do that. The parishioners of Holy Cross enjoyed the desserts Mom brought for fellowship Sundays, and the members of her Monte Alverno bible study loved her cream puffs. Through the years, we were blessed with handcrafted clothes, sweaters, and afghans, homemade cookies, pies, tortes, palatchinkas, tomato kraut, stuffed peppers, and especially the "heath candy" she made every Christmas.
Mom was a member of The Cross and The Crown prayer group. She taught us how to love God and one another. Her heritage to us isn't possessions, but the priceless, unspoken treasure of her example as a loving mother and a strong, faith filled woman. Alzheimer's may have stolen many of Mom's memories, but it couldn't take away her sparkling spirit or her loving soul. She was always thinking about her next adventure. We can picture her at heaven's gate with her sweet smile and a twinkle in her eyes saying "Ready or not, here I come."
We extend special thanks to the angels without wings at St. Paul Home who tenderly cared for Mom with such loving compassion and kindness. Their beautiful smiles and hugs brought Mom so many precious moments of joy. They became more than friends; they were family to us until God's heavenly angels came to escort Mom home.
