    Mrs. Chas. Alwardt
Finally Succombs After Years Of Illness
Mrs. Anna Alwardt, aged 40 years died Friday afternoon at six o'clock, after an illness extending through a period of twelve years by the insidious progress of an incurable disease which gradually undermined her constitution and life ended at the last almost painless and she passed to the other side with almost her last words expressing solicitude for the husband who has so tenderly nursed and cared for her all through the long illness.
Mrs. Alwardt was thoroughly unselfish in giving her care to her loved ones, as she was her mother's constant and faithful nurse for fourteen years until the latter's death; her father also who died of blood poison was cared for by her unremittingly, and also a brother for a period of one year. All these broke down her naturally weak constitution and she never recoverd her usual health afterwards.
Anna Koch was born at Oshkosh, November 24, 1872, and came to Kaukauna with her parents thirty years ago. She was married to Charles Alwardt April 21, 1897, at Holy Cross church and they have resided here ever since.
She was a member of the Christian Mother Society and also a charter member of the Royal Neighbors of America both of which organizations attended the services in a body.
Surviving is her heart-broken husband and three brother, John Koch of Shawano, Paul Koch of Appleton and Otto Koch of this city.
Mr. Alwardt has been sustained all during the last months severe illness of his wife by the constant aid and presence with him of his mother, Mrs. Charles Alwardt, Sr., was unremitting in her attention to the almost helpless invalid.
The funeral took place at ten o'clock Tuesday morning from Holy Cross church under charge of the Rev. Father Lochman vicar general of the Green Bay diocese, with interment in the family lot.
Beautiful floral tributes were presented by the societies and her friends and neighbors. A broken wheel was from the Royal Neighbors, a large pillow from the C.& N.W. railway shops, and numerous bouquets from friends throughout the city.
Those attending the funeral from out of town were John Koch, Shawano; Paul Koch, Appleton; Mr.Charles Alwardt, Mr. and Mrs. John Alwardt, Mr. and Mrs. George Alwardt, Mrs. Anna Matzen and Mrs. Henrietta Krumm of Manitowoc; Mrs. Paul Koch, cousin, Oshkosh; Mrs. Katherine Berry of Green Bay.
The pall-bearers were the Messrs. H. T.Runte, Joseph Wittmann, L.E. Vandenberg, Ignatz Benz, Edward Phillips and Martin De Bruin.
Mr. Alwardt went to Manitowoc Thursday with his parents to take a much needed rest at the old home after which he will return and resume his position as foreman of the tinshop of the Chicago and Northwestern Railway company in this city.

Anna married Allwardt, Charles 21 Apr 1897. Charles (son of Allwardt, Carl and Mueller, Caroline) was born 26 May 1873, Manitowoc, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, USA; died 27 Dec 1932, Green Bay, Brown, Wisconsin, USA; was buried , Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, USA. Life,s Clock
The clock of life is wound but once and no man has the power to tell just where the hands will stop at late or early hour. To lose one's wealth is sad indeed. To lose one's health is more. To lose one's soul is such a loss as no man can restore. The present only is our own. Live, love, toil with a will. Place no faith in tomorrow for the clock may then be still.
We will sadly miss you. Love your family and friends.
