    Obituary:
    Gary "Chief" Van Straten, 45, Green Bay, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, at a local hospital surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 6, 1961, to Lowell and the late Elizabeth (Secor) Van Straten in Green Bay. Gary was a 1980 graduate of Green Bay West High School. On Oct. 5, 1985, he married Nancy Mohr in Green Bay. He had been employed by H. J. Martin & Son. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and also a member of their Men's Club. Chief was an avid Packer fan and was known as the best tailgater. He enjoyed all types of sports and also spending time at the cabin up north. He was a wonderful father and husband
    Survivors include his wife, Nancy; one daughter, Brooke; one son, Travis; his father, Lowell; five brothers and three sisters, June (Dave) Amenson, Dale (Wendy) Van Straten, Tony (Jeannie) Van Straten, his twin, Jerri (Ron) Smith, Debbie Van Straten, Dan (Lynn) Van Straten, Don Van Straten and his special friend, Amy; and John "Bear' (Jenny) Van Straten; his father-in-law, Ray Mohr; two brothers-in-law, Dennis (Karen) Mohr and Jim "Moose" (Julie) Mohr; one sister-in-law, Sue (Tom) Carew; nieces and nephews, Brad Amenson, his godchild, Sarah (Greg) Siefert, A. J. and Krystal Smith, Carrie, Brian, Miranda, Charlie, Joey, Alex and Tristen Van Straten; his dog, Midnight; other relatives and many friends.
    He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth, and his mother-in-law, Patricia Mohr.
    Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1423 Kellogg Street, where the Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Andrew Kysley officiating. Burial will be at Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com
    Everybody who knew Chief loved him.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
    The family would like to express a special thank you to Rev. David Koch and the staff of ICU at St. Mary's Hospital for their care and concern for Gary.
