    Obituary:
Bernard Peter "Bernie" Ebben, 84, of Ashwaubenon, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015, at his home holding his wife's hand. He was born on June 19, 1930, in De Pere to the late Peter and Florence (Vercauteren) Ebben. On July 18, 1953, Bernard married Arlene Heuer at St. Willebrord Church in Green Bay.
Bernie, as he was known to most people, was the epitome of "Persistence", be it the 61 years he was married to Arlene, the 42 years he worked at Morning Glory, the reigning Patriarch of Magnolia Lane from the time it was a gravel road, the countless home repair projects at his home or his children's, being a charter member of 50 years at Nativity of Our Lord Church, continued fishing when the fish were not biting, hunting until he was in his 80's or the grueling schedule of dialysis three times a week for 18 months. Those Life Lessons were not lost on his children, with each of them having their own success personally and professionally as a result.
He often times was not much of one to express his feelings aloud. However, Bernie's actions and labors of love, spoke volumes on just how much he cared. Bernie's quiet example shone brightly when he was at dialysis at St. Vincent and the technicians remarked how well he had raised his children, as it was uncommon to see family at the side of patients like his children were during each and every session.
Bernie's passion for fishing was instilled in his sons, starting at an early age of three generations in the same boat on Shawano Lake or Lake Winnebago. How elated he was when the time came for his Grandson to extend that priceless tradition when his Dad was no longer in the boat.
Though she was the last to arrive in the family, it was Daddy's Girl, Julie that was the first to see to it that every detail was covered for doctor's appointments, medications and hospital/rehab stays, right up to his final wishes to be at home.
Bernard is survived by his wife Arlene; four children, Sue (Ed) Rosek, Green Bay; Dale (Jasmin), Denali Park, Alaska; Brian (Julie), Green Bay and Julie (Daniel) Ebben-Matzke, Green Bay; four grandchildren, Chris (Jessica) Rosek, Amanda (Rich) Rogers, Alex Ebben and Allison Ebben, two great grandchildren and one on the way. Bernard is further survived by his sister Elsie (Otis) Beggs, brother-in-law and sister-in-law David (Deloris) Heuer, sister-in-law Maggie Heuer, brother-in-law Frank Heller and many nieces and nephews. He cherished the time he spent with his special furry friend Lily.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Verna and Robert Anderson; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Jean Ebben; father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Lima Heuer; brother-in-law Ronald Heuer, sister-in-law Mildred Heller and nephew Peter Anderson.
Family and friends may visit at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. 10th Street, De Pere, from 4-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Fr. Jim Hablewitz officiating. Friends may also visit at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida Street, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church with Fr. John H. Harper officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Nativity of Our Lord Church in Bernard's name. Please visit www.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the family.
A heartfelt, special thanks to Todd Garvaglia for "rolling out the red carpet" and taking Dad's fishing and hunting experiences to a whole new level, former boss and "bestest friend in the whole wide world" Wally Heil, priceless neighbors Annette and Randy who provided assistance and friendship to Dad and our Family to allow Mom and Dad to stay comfortably at home, Jenna and Jaki at Woodside Lutheran Homes Rehab, the entire Staff at DaVita Titletown Dialysis, St. Vincent Dialysis, Father Jack Harper, Bellin Hospital 4th Floor Staff, Unity Hospice, Dr. Edward Bongiorno, John of Lamers Medical Transport and Bob for his multiple handy jobs and being the master carpenter on the wheelchair ramp.
