    Biography:
    Anna is the daughter of John and Anna (nee C^erny (?)) and immigrated to the United States via New York from Gajar, Slovakia at the age of 15 with the stated position of servant, arriving by ship on Jan 31, 1905. At the age of 18, and both living in Little Neck, NY, she married 30 yr old, Georg Chmela, a farmer. They were married in the Borough of Manhattan, a city in New York on May 24, 1908. During their marriage they had 6 children. Her Georg died young, and sometime later, friends George & Anna Vissers needed her help as Anna Vissers was quite ill, so she helped care for her and their 6 children until Anna Vissers died.
    She and George Vissers and children got to know each other during his wife's illness and later decided to marry and blend their two large families. Together they had twin daughters born 10-6-1923 - Alice Anna & it is thought Agnes). However, the latter was stillborn (and it is unknown where baby twin Vissers' grave is located). Together they raised 13 children, hers, his, and theirs. They lived happily together on their farm until he died. Later as the children grew up and moved away Anna sold the farm and bought a house.
    Sometime later she met another widower, Bill Ebben, and they married and lived in her house until she died. Anna is buried next to her third husband, Bill Ebben, though it was her wishes to be buried next to her first husband, Georg Chmela.
    As of this writing, Feb 1, 2016, Alice Anna nee Vissers (married Antone 'Tony' Martinelli) is still alive at 92 yrs old.

    Obituary:
    Freedom - Jerry C. Vissers, age 73, of Freedom, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, August 16, 2018. Jerry was born on March 19, 1945 son of the late Cornelius and Catherine (Chmela) Vissers. He loved his work as an Operating Engineer with Calnin and Goss and was a proud member of Operating Engineer Local 139. Jerry was also a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. He is survived by his wife Janet, his children, Todd and Bruce Vissers, Darla Schommer (Dale Dausey), Dana (Jeff) Burkhart and Darin Dietz. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ryli, Tara, Justin, Danielle, Derek, Kody and Kala, 4 great-grandchildren a brother-in-law, Jim (Louise) Alsteen, sister's-in-law, Cleo Mayo and Judy Schmidt, cousins, aunts and uncles and his best buddy, Marshall. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, and brother's-in-law, Clem Alsteen and Francis Schmidt.
    Visitation for Jerry will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, N3972 Columbia Ave, Freedom. There will be a sharing of memories at 4:00 p.m. followed by full Military Honors. Burial will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery in Isaar. For online condolence, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
