    Died suddenly Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 27. He was born in Hollandto wn April 25, 1882 and lived in the vicinity all of his life. He had operat ed a general store, dance hall and tavern until ten years ago when he acce pted employment at the Dundas Canning Company until about four months ag o. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Thomas and James at hom e; one brother, William of Hollandtown; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Broer en of Thorp. Funeral Services were held at 10 o'clock Saturday morni ng at the St. Francis Catholic church, Hollandtown - Rev. John DeVries w as in charge and burial was in the parish cemetery. The pallbearers we re nephews of the deceased, Bob VanAbel, Don VanAbel, Jim Vandehei, Gera ld VandeHei, Henry VanDueren, Francis VanAbel. Out of town people who atte nded the funeral were Mrs. Mary Broeren and Mrs. Elmer Pagel, Thorp; Mr s. C.     Obituary:
    Thomas R. Van Abel, 82, Kaukauna, passed away on Friday morning, Nov. 25, 2011, at his residence. He was born Feb. 15, 1929, in Appleton, to the late Albert and Mary (Campbell) Van Abel. On April 26, 1958, he was united in marriage to Jacquelyn Jacques at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna.
    Tom was an U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Europe. He was employed by Thilmany Paper for many years until his retirement. Tom was a long-time member of the Kaukauna Elks Club, a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Men's Choir at St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown. He enjoyed golfing and spending the winter months with his wife, Jacque, in Florida, along with their many friends from the Hollandtown area.
    He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jacquie; three children, Mark (Kimberly), San Diego; Amy (Bill) Sarles, Mequon; and Craig (Mary), Appleton; six grandchildren, Lauren Van Abel, Molly, Megan and Emily Sarles, Joshua and Nicholas Van Abel; and a brother, James (Marlene) Van Abel.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary Van Abel.
    The Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish @ ST. FRANCIS CHURCH, 433 County Rd. CE, Hollandtown with Fr. Willard Van De Loo concelebrating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call directly at church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna, is assisting the family, 766-2099, www.boettcherfamilyfuneral.com.

    Bought the Campbell Family Farm in the 1950's and farmed the land until about 1966, then sold it to neighbor Roy Lamers. The Lamers property had been the Finnegan farm in the 1800's.

    Obituary:
    Kaukauna - James E. Van Abel, age 87, of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 4, 2018. He was born on October 11, 1930, son of the late Albert and Mary (Campbell) Van Abel. Jim married Marlene DeLeeuw and together they have celebrated over 61 years of marriage.
    Jim ran the family farm until 1965, and then enjoyed serving his insurance clients for over 30 years until his retirement. Jim was an active member at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Kaukauna for many years, and was in the choir and an usher for 50 years. Jim had a lifelong passion for bowling that started as a pin setter at VanAbel's of Hollandtown at the age of 16. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Jim most valued spending time with his family whether just visiting, or playing a good game of sheephead or cribbage.
    Jim is survived by his loving wife, Marlene Van Abel; children: Gary (Elizabeth) Van Abel, Dick (Sue) Van Abel and Karen (Joe) Meyer; grandchildren: Carolyn (Kyle) Coleman, Mary (David) Lenz, Michael Van Abel, Luke (Michelle) Van Abel, John (Kelsey) Van Abel, Leah (Aaron) Williams, Laura Taggart and Bryan Meyer; great grandchildren: Ella and Adeline Coleman, Elijah Lenz, Joy and Sariah Van Abel and Isla Williams; brothers and sisters-in-law: Betty Courtney, Rosemary Kraus, Clarence (Lois) DeLeeuw and Joyce DeLeeuw; nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
    Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary, and his brother, Tom (Jacque) Van Abel.
    Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, St. Mary's Church, 119 W. 7th Street, Kaukauna, with Fr. Willie Vande Loo officiating and Pastoral Leader Deacon Steve Vande Hey assisting. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Jim's name. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
