    Funeral for Mrs. John Demerath Saturday
    Funeral services for Mrs. John Demerath Sr. were conducted Saturday morning Jan. 5 at St. Ludger Catholic church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Joseph B. Falke V.F. celebrated the solemn requiem high mass, with the Rev. Charles Oborny of Verdigre as deacon and the Rev. Edgar Wortmann of Creighton as subdeacon.
    Mrs. Demerath passed away Wednesdy, Jan 2 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital at Norfolk at the age of 65.
    Burial was in St. Ludger cemetery. Pallbearers were F.D. Carroll, Leo Frisch, Fred Ulrich and Henry Ebel of Creighton, Joseph Jelinek of Walnut and Richard Tichy of Niobrara.
    Elizabeth Losselyong was born Nov. 11, 1887 at Greenville, Wis., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Losselyong. Surname is also spelled Losselyoung. On Oct 5, 1915 she married John P. Demerath of Stanton at the Catholic church in Greenville.
    They made their home in Stanton for seven years and then moved to Brunswick. They also lived on a farm near Plainview. In 1949 they retired and moved into Creighton, where they lived until the time of her death.
    Surviving are her husband; three sons, Raymond of Creighton; John Fr. and Edward of Plainview; four daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Ann) Jelinek of Walnut, Mrs. Willard (Elizabeth) Tichy of Verdigre; Mrs. Lawrence (Dorothy) Frisch and Helen of Creighton; 11 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Kate Schetter, Mrs. Wm. Ellenbecker and Mrs. Ed Dietz, all of Wisconsin.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

    Funeral services for Raymond J. Demerath, 83, of Creighton were held on Wednesday, August 2, 2000 at St Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton. Father Keith Rezac officiated the 11:00 a.m. service with interment at St. Ludger Cemetery in Creighton.
    Raymond J. Demerath, son of John Sr. and Elizabeth Losselyong Demerath, was born on September 25, 1916 at Stanton, the oldest of eight children. As a young child, he resided with his family on a farm in rural Brunswick.
    Ray attended District 22, Brunswick and St. Ludger Catholic School, Creighton until the eighth grade. He helped out on the family farm until approximately 18 years of age and then traveled throughout the Midwestern states working at various jobs. Several years later, he returned and settled in the Brunswick area. He was married to Ruby Skokan on June 18, 1941 at St. Ludger Catholic Church. Ray and Ruby are the parents of five children, Judy, Larry, Patty, Phyllis and Lois.
    DuRing the years of their farming career, they lived in rural Brunswick, Creighton, Tilden and moved to Norfolk in 1982. Ray still continued to commute to his cattle operation on his Tilden farm for several years, Upon selling this farm, he immediately became involved in many activities in the Norfolk community.
    After earning his GED degree from NECC at the age of 76, he began tutoring others in the program. Ror many years he was an active member of the Norfolk Men's Chorus and still continued this when they moved back to Creighton. At age 60 he earned his pilot's license, purchased an airplane and spent a lot of time traveling.
    Ray was a member of St. Ludger Catholic Church, Creighton, belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was a past member of the Norfolk Men's Chorus.
    Ray passed away at the Creighton Care Cretre on July 29, 2000 at the age of 83.
    Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruby; children, Judy Rech of Pleasant Hill, CA., Larry of Valley, Patty and husband, Ray Cerny, of Kearney, Phyllis and husband, Merle Weber, of Plainview and Lois Tiemann of Villa Park, IL; 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; brothers, John Demerath Jr. of Creighton; sisters, Ann Jelinek and Betty Tichy of Verdigre and Dorothy Frisch of Creighton. Preceding him in death were his parents, sister, Helen Demerath; grandson, Jeffrey Weber; three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.

    Funeral Services for Anna M. Jelinek, age 85, of Verdigre were Thursday, June 29, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Verdigre. Rev. Doug Scheinost officiated with burial in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery.
    Visitation was Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. with a 7:30 P.M. Wake Service at Brockhaus Funeral Chapel in Verdigre. . Anna died Monday at her home in Verdigre at the age of 85.
    Anna M. Jelinek, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Losselyong) Demerath, was born December 18, 1920 at home in rural Stanton, NE. She attended St. Ludger Catholic School in Creighton. On June 20, 1944 she was married to Ernest Jelinek at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton. Two children were born to them, Leonard and Vivian. They farmed southwest of Verdigre, raising Hereford cattle, and after retirement, moved into Verdigre. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Verdigre and its Altar Society. She also was involved in a number of clubs in Verdigre.
    Survivors include her daughter, Vivian Jelinek of Verdigre; 6 grandchildren, Doug Goldsberry, Aaron Goldsberry, Joseph Gadlin, Melanie McManigal, Michael Jelinek, Diane Teadtke; two great grandchildren, Makayla and Zachary; one brother, Ed Demerath of Creighton; and 2 sisters, Betty Tichy of Veridgre and Dorothy Frisch of Creighton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; son, Leonard; sister, Helen; and brothers, Ray and Jack.

    Anna married Jelinek, Ernest 20 Jun 1944, Creighton, Knox, Nebraska, USA. Ernest died Bef 2006. [Group Sheet]

    Funeral services for Ed Demerath, age 85, of Creighton were Tuesday, January 8, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton. Father Keith Rezac was the celebrant with burial in St. Ludger Cemetery. Mr. Demerath died Friday, January 4 at Creighton Area Health Services.
    Edward L. Demerath, son of John and Elizabeth (Losselyong) Demerath, was born April 15, 1922 at Stanton, NE. He attended St. Ludger Academy and Antelope County Dist. #22 school.
    Ed served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948 as a Seaman First Class. He was married to Marguerite Frisch on September 14, 1948 at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton. Six children were born to them, Marilyn, James, Robert, Mary Ellen, Marcia and Monica. They lived and farmed six miles west and 3/4 mile south of Plainview for 36 years before retiring to Creighton.
    Ed was a member of St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton and was also a lifetime member of VFW Post #1151, the Knights of Columbus Creighton Council #1238 and the Senior Citizens Club. During his lifetime he served on many community and church boards.
    Survivors include his wife, Marguerite of Creighton; children and their spouses, Jim and Jane Demerath, Bob and Ann Demerath, Marilyn and John Orr, Mary Ellen and Mark Bushfield, Marcia and Gill Wright, Monica and Tom Greer; 20 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Tichy and Dorothy Frisch and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ray and John; sisters Helen Demerath and Ann Jelinek.

    Funeral services for Elizabeth Tichy, age 85, of Verdigre will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 24, 2011 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Verdigre. Reverend Jeff Lorig will be the celebrant with burial at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Verdigre with a wake service at 7:00 p.m.
    Elizabeth "Betty" Mary (Demerath) Tichy, daughter of John Peter and Mary Elizabeth (Losselyong) Demerath, was born on October 19, 1925 at Brunswick, Nebraska. She attended St. Ludger Academy and graduated in 1943. Betty was raised in Brunswick and Creighton. She attended college and worked as a secretary in Omaha. She returned home to care for her sister Helen Demerath. On November 25, 1948, she married Willard Frances Tichy at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton, Nebraska. Five children were born to them, Jeanne, Joan, Richard, Gerald and Julie.
    She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church at Verdigre, Nebraska. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar Society. Betty was a wonderful cook, and always made sure her family was well-fed. She could often be found out in her garden, tending her treasured roses. She loved to polka, along with her husband Willard of 62 years. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, and her family will miss her greatly, along with her apple pie.
    She died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Alpine Village Retirement Center in Verdigre at the age of 85.
    She is survived by her children and their spouses, Jeanne and Ron Tinkham of Ord, NE, Rick and Cathy Tichy of Council Bluffs, IA, Gary and Kathy Tichy of Dixon, CA, and Julie and Perry Trenhaile of Bloomfield, NE; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Frisch of Creighton, NE; and sister-in-law, Marquerite Demerath of Creighton, NE. She was preceded in death by her husband Willard, on January 4, 2011; daughter, Joan Marshall in 1995; her parents; and her siblings; Ray Demerath, Helen Demerath, Jack Demerath, Ann Jelenik and Ed Demerath.
