    Koehnke, David P. "Toast" David P. Koehnke, Menasha, age 44, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 31, 2008. He was born September 19, 1963, in Neenah, son of Howard and Luanne (Hoolihan) Koehnke. David served in the U.S. Army for eight years where he was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY, Germany and Ft. Lewis in Tacoma, WA. David worked as a mechanic for the Borchert family farm. He was paralyzed following a swimming accident. For the last ten years David overcame many obstacles and was still the center of his family. He enjoyed NASCAR, being at the family cottage and the outdoors, and going for walks with his children.
    Survivors include his four children: Bryan Koehnke, Jennifer Koehnke, Nicole Koehnke and their mother, Anne Birling; Christine Koehnke and her mother, Shelby Koehnke; three grandchildren: Kaylee, Porter and Mary Jane and another granddaughter due in October; his mother, Luanne Nelson; a brother, Bill (Connie) Koehnke; numerous nieces and nephews; and his cat, "T".
    David was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Christine Frank; his grandparents; and his father-in-law, Dennis Meyer Sr.
    Memorial services for David will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2008, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church with Rev. Stephen Dietzler officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of services. Military rites will be performed by the American Legion Post #60 from Kimberly. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in his name.
    The family would like to thank all the people who touched our lives and helped David with his care over the years.
