    Elvera D. Scheibe of Appleton, age 94, passed into Jesus' loving arms peac efully on Thursday morning, March 17, 2005. Elvera was born in Freed om on April 16, 1910, daughter of the late Herman and Alma (Schubring) Rem ter. On October 21, 1927, she married Chester Scheibe at St. Peter Ev. Lut heran Church in Freedom; he preceded her in death on May 29, 1969, after f orty-one years of marriage. As a young woman, Elvera worked at Scolding Lo cks Company in Appleton, and was a longtime and faithful member of St. Pa ul Ev. Lutheran Church where she volunteered at the school hot lunch progr am and was also a thirty-five year member and a Past Officer of the Ladi es Aid. Many will remember her love for gardening and the special care s he gave to her African violets.
    Survivors include eight children: Floyd (Janice) Scheibe of Gillett; Euge ne (Lorraine) Scheibe of Menasha; Joyce Butterfield of Appleton; Harold (E unice) Scheibe of Appleton; Joan (Wayne) Strelow of Appleton; Daniel (Darl ene) Scheibe of Medina; Karen Scheibe of Appleton; and Timothy (Judy) Sche ibe of Appleton. She is further survived by 19 grandchildren: Mary (Ken) B uetow, Thomas (Kordi) Scheibe, Gregg (Cathy) Scheibe, Sandra Scheibe and h er fiance Ron Weyenberg, Lori (Joe) Friebel, Tami (Ronald) Schurer, Lisa ( George) DeBruin, Julie (Robert) Meltz, Diana (Scott) Rehmer, Brenda (Cha d) Schultz, Michael (Susan) Strelow, Brian (Jody) Strelow, William Strelo w, James Strelow, Mark Scheibe, Amy (David) Stern, Adam (Jen) Scheibe, Reb ecca (Josh) Salzman, and Jennifer (Eric) George; a granddaughter-in-law: B arbara Scheibe; 42 great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, a s ister-in-law: Ruth Remter of Appleton; as well as numerous nieces, nephe ws other relatives, and many friends.
    Elvera was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son-in-law, Ke nneth Butterfield, two grandsons: Floyd Scheibe, Jr. and John Scheibe, a s ister, Wilma TeVrucht, and brothers: Norbert, Gordon, Clarence, Lester, a nd Marlin.
    The Christian Funeral for Elvera will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 2 1, 2005 at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 N. Morrison Street in Applet on with Rev. Kenneth Frey officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memor ial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM a nd again at the church on Monday from 10 AM until the hour of the servic e. A memorial fund in Elvera's name is being established.

    Gordon E. Remter, age 76, of Appleton, passed away on November 14, 2006, at Appleton Medical Center. He was born on September 12, 1930, in Freedom, Wisconsin, the son of Gordy and Esther (Luebke) Remter. Gordon was united in marriage to Donna Mericle on January 29, 1955. Gordon was a Korean War vet and belonged to the Moose Lodge in Appleton. He enjoyed golfing, boating, darts, cribbage, motorcycling, photography, and tending bar. Gordon is survived by his wife, Donna; a son, Steven (Vicki) Remter of Appleton; daughters: Pam (Don) Leidig, Covington, Georgia; Cheri Castellion, Appleton; Denice Remter, Appleton; Dawn Remter, Oshkosh; brothers: Donald (Gladys) Remter, Yuma, Arizona; Gerald Remter, Appleton; a sister, Judy (Donald) Schmidt, Appleton; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Vernon Remter; sisters-in-law: Beverly Klinker and Edna (Peter) Dercks; a brother-in-law, Earl Baier; and a niece, Debra Schmidt.     Donald A Remter, 82, of Appleton entered into eternal life Saturday October 22, 2016. He was born November 29, 1933 to Gordon and Esther (Luebke) Remter Sr. He was united in marriage with Gladys Sachs in Texas on September 20, 1957.
    Donald enjoyed traveling, tinkering with computers, and family games like dice, cards and dominoes. In his younger days he enjoyed bowling and darts. Donald was a devoted Christian who loved working with the church. He was always bringing a smile to everyone's face and was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He served in the Army in Germany from 1957-1959. After retirement he moved with his wife to Yuma, AZ until they returned home to be with their family.
    Donald is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Gladys Remter, his parents Gordon Sr. and Esther Remter, a brother Gordon Remter Jr., Gladys' parents Harvey and Mary Sachs, son-in-law Rueben Olmsted and niece Debra Schmidt.
    He is survived by his six children: Debra Olmsted, Marshfield; Russell (Linda) Remter, Neenah; Mary (Roudy) Malliet, Little Chute; Doreen (Jeff) Westrick, Waterford; Robert/Scar (Julie) Remter, Appleton and Brenda (Scott) Kuba, Englewood, Fl. Six grandchildren: Lindsey Woerishofer, Cali (Kyle) Muetzelburg, Taylor Westrick, Connor Westrick, James Kuba and Sara Kuba. Three great-grandchildren; Caitlyn Woerishofer, Jacob Woerishofer and Baby Muetzelburg, who is due December 2016. He is also survived by a special friend, Ingrid Lynd.
    A celebration of Donald's life will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 705 E. Greenfield Drive, Little Chute, on December 3, 2016. Visitation is from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m.
    The family would like to give a special thanks to the amazing staff at Willow Lane Assisted Living, Matthews of Appleton Senior Living and Compassus Hospice Care for their care throughout the last two years of Donald's life.

    Appleton - Shirley Misco-Kelder, Age 85, Appleton, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 after a short illness. She was born in Black Creek, on December 22, 1932, the daughter of Lester Remter and Isabelle (Scharmann) Remter-Lemmens. She was united in marriage to Robert Misco on February 24, 1951. He preceded her in death on November 13, 1962. She was united in marriage on July 17, 1965 to Theodorus (Ted) Kelder. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2009. For over 40 years Shirley ran a children's daycare in her home. She loved spending time with all of the children. One of her greatest disappointments was when she was no longer physically able to provide childcare. However, many of those same children returned to visit her in their adult years. Shirley was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
    Shirley is survived by sons: Randall Misco and Frank Kelder (friend Diane); daughters: Patricia Misco and Robin (Roger) Gustafson; daughter-in-law: Jody Kelder; grandchildren: Robert, Michael, and Benjamin Ruwoldt, Chad Gustafson, Ian Misco, Lea, Casey and Tiffany Kelder, Amanda Misco and Jessie Jacobs-Brown; great-grandchildren: Dominic, Jacqueline, Stefan, Devan, Chase, Luke, Jordan and Z'ev. She is further survived by a brother: Jerry Lemmens; sister-in-law: Doris (Louis) Flauger; as well as many other relatives, friends and the many, many children who she lovingly spent her days with in her home daycare.
    In addition to her husbands, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter: Carol Walczak; foster daughter: Debbie Jacobs; brothers: Vernal, Lloyd, and Lester Remter; sisters-in-law: Audrey and Mary Remter; and a dear friend: Georgia Timm.
    A Funeral Mass for Shirley will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, February 16, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton, with Father Jim Leary officiating. A visitation for Shirley will be held from 9:00 am until the time of service on Friday at the church.
    The family would like to send a special thank you to the nurses at Affinity Visiting Nurses Hospice and the staff at Ascension Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh for the wonderful support given to the family at this difficult time.

    Floyd C. Scheibe, age 84 of Gillett, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 at the Woodland Village of Gillett. Floyd was born to the late Chester and Elvera (Remter) Scheibe on April 30, 1928 in Appleton. On September 4, 1948 he married Janice Howe. Floyd worked for several years at Kimberly Clark which would eventually become Midtech, until his retirement in 1988. He enjoyed his Wednesday gatherings with Underhill senior friends.
    He is survived by his loving wife, Janice, his children; Mary (Ken) Buetow and Tom (Kordi) Scheibe, seven grandchildren; John II, James, Justin, Jessie, Tina, Tanya and Brienne and seven great grandchildren. Floyd is further survived by his brothers and sisters; Joyce Butterfield, Harold (Eunice) Scheibe, Joan (Wayne) Strelow, Danny (Darlene) Scheibe, Karen Scheibe and Tim (Judy) Scheibe as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Floyd is preceded in death by, his infant son Floyd and son John. Also preceding him in death are his brother Eugene Scheibe, brother in law Ken Butterfield, and great granddaughters Olive Jean and Violet Lynn.
    The funeral service for Floyd will be held at 12:00PM, Monday, December 24, 2012, at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St, Appleton with Pastor Mike Paholke officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Highland Memorial Park immediately following the service.
    In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

    Eugene H. "Gene" Scheibe, age 80, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at his home in Menasha. He was born on March 19, 1931, in Appleton; son of the late Chester and Elvera (Remter) Scheibe. On August 27, 1955, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Brockman. Gene honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and earned the rank of sergeant. He worked with the George Banta Company for 37 years, retiring from there in 1991.
    He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton. Gene enjoyed woodworking, gardening and took great pride in caring for his property. He always maintained his quick wit throughout his life and will be remembered for his great sense of humor.
    He will be deeply missed by his wife of 55 years, Lorraine Scheibe; children, Gregg (Cathy) Scheibe, Sandy (Ron Weyenberg) Scheibe and Lori (Joe) Friebel; grandchildren, Chad (Sara) Scheibe, Chris (Dale) Daemmrich, Scott, Brian and Alex Friebel; great-grandchildren, Emily, Calli and Logan; brothers and sisters, Floyd (Janice) Scheibe, Joyce Butterfield, Harold (Eunice) Scheibe, Joan (Wayne) Strelow, Dan (Darlene) Scheibe, Karen Scheibe and Tim (Judy) Scheibe; sister-in-law, Eunice Brockman; and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
    Gene was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Ken Butterfield, Reginald Brockman and Alvin (Verna) Brockman.
    A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 302 N. Morrison St., Appleton, with the Rev. Paul Jenkins officiating. Family and friends may visit at Valley Funeral Home (TONIGHT) from 4 - 8 p.m. and again at the church on Saturday from 10 - 11 a.m. Burial will take place in the Community Lutheran Cemetery, Freedom.

    Scheibe, Harold Harold, age 81, our beloved husband and father, is now with the Lord. He passed away Monday morning, June 22, at his home in Appleton, with his wife and daughter Diana at his side.
    Harold was born July 2, 1933 in Appleton, son of the late Chester and Elvera (Remter) Scheibe. He is a graduate of Appleton West High School, Class of 1951. Harold served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict with the 49th Engineering Company. On May 4, 1957, Harold married Eunice Wendt. He and Eunice were blessed with 58 years together. In 1994, Harold retired from Miller Electric Manufacturing, after 44 years of employment. For several years after retiring, he served the community at the Appleton YMCA in the men's fitness department.
    Harold is survived by his loving wife, Eunice; three daughters, Julie (Robert) Meltz, Diana (Scott) Rehmer, and Brenda (Chad) Schultz; and 12 grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers, Daniel (Darlene), and Timothy (Judy); three sisters, Joyce Butterfield, Joan (Wayne) Strelow, and Karen Scheibe; sisters-in-law, Janice Scheibe, and Lorraine Scheibe. Harold was preceded in death by his grandson, Zachary Meltz; two brothers, Floyd and Eugene; and brother-in-law, Ken Butterfield.
    Eunice and Diana would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Theda Care Hospice team for their generous care and support.
    Those who knew Harold will remember him for his unlimited kindness and willingness to give of himself to help others.

    Richard A. Remter, 51, of Appleton, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
    Richard was born on August 28, 1962, in Appleton, the son of Gerald and Carole (Coffey) Remter. Richard enjoyed riding snowmobiles and taking road trips. One of his favorite destinations was Wisconsin Dells.
    Richard is survived by his two daughters: Stephanie (Joseph) Giotto and Danielle Remter; his parents; four siblings: Geraldine (Dan) Cowling, Tina (Allen) Beschta, Patti DeWall (Sonny Kettner), and Jeremy Remter (Sarah Forler); two grandchildren: Isabella Remter and Chase Giotto; and his longtime girlfriend: Janice Derks. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews as well as numerous extended family.
    A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Valley Funeral Home, from 4-6 PM.

    Winchester - Lori Lea Friebel passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 2, 2018 at the age of 55. Lori was born on February 6, 1963 to Eugene and Lorraine (Brockman) Scheibe in Appleton, Wisconsin. She graduated from Kimberly High School where she met and later married her high school sweetheart Joseph "Joe" Friebel on June 22, 1985. Lori's passion in life was spending time with Joe and their three sons. She enjoyed camping, fishing, tending her flowerbeds, gardening and playing games with family and friends. She also loved spending time with her pets and crocheting for Project Linus. Lori was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Menasha.
    Lori is lovingly survived by her husband, Joe and her three sons, Scott Friebel and his fiancée Monica Kasuboski, Brian Friebel and Alex Friebel, her mother, Lorraine Scheibe, a brother, Gregg Scheibe and Carrie Kearn, a sister, Sandy Scheibe and Ron Weyenberg, her mother and father-in-law, Vernon and Rosemary (Nussbaum) Friebel, three brothers-in-law, John (Barb) Friebel, James (Sharon) Friebel and David (Sjanny) Friebel and a sister-in-law, Ann (Steve) Bauer and by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and very special friends. Lori was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Scheibe, a sister-in-law, Cathy Scheibe and a brother-in-law, Mark Friebel.
    A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 Broad Street Menasha with the Rev. Steven S. Billings officiating. Lori's family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service. A memorial fund is being established in Lori's name.
    Lori's family would like to extend a special thank you to FVHO and Dr. Timothy Goggins and his medical staff for all the compassion and love they rendered unto Lori and her family.
