Obituary:
Agnes Mehlberg, age 96, of New London, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2009, at St. Joseph Residence. Agnes was born on August 25, 1912, Township of Bear Creek (Waupaca County), daughter of the late August and Minnie (Voss) Roehl. She was united in marriage to Walter Mehlberg on May 6, 1936, in Manawa. He preceded her in death in 1966. Agnes lived and farmed in the Town of Union for many years; she moved to New London in 1973. Prior to her marriage she worked as a nanny in Chicago. She formerly worked at Marion Furniture, Clintonville Hospital and Hortonville Toy Factory.
Agnes is survived by a daughter, June (Leslie) Steinberg, Greenville; a son, William (Judy) Mehlberg, Green Bay; a sister, Verna Baird, Clintonville; five grandchildren: Patricia (Robert) Parry; Mary (Rick) Roesler; Thomas (Klaudine) Steinberg; Heather (Dan) Beyer; and Chad (Molly) Mehlberg; ten great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Alice Roehl and Hildegarde Bartz. She is further survived by three step-grandchildren, Andrew, Steve and John Parry; six step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Agnes is preceded in death by a sister, Rosetta Sawall, and a brother, Orville Roehl.
Funeral services for Agnes will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church (709 Beckert Road), New London with Rev. Bil Sutlief officiating. Interment will be in the Roseland Cemetery, Marion. Family and friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
