Obituary:
Arleen A. Hanaway, 95, Greenleaf, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at Westhaven CBRF, Brillion. She was born April 11, 1914, in Askeaton, a daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Campbell) Farrell. On Dec. 30, 1939, she married Thomas Hanaway at St. Patrick Church- Askeaton.
Arleen retired from St. Vincent Hospital after 20 years as a nurse. She was an alum of St. Mary Nursing School, a member of St. Patrick- Askeaton Church, the Altar Rosary and church council. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels at the De Pere Community Center, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed playing sheepshead with the same group for over 60 years.
Arleen is survived by her children, Thomas (Bonnie) Hanaway, Paul (Barb) Hanaway, Mary Hanaway, Robert (Mary) Hanaway, Margaret Hanaway, Mike (Linda) Hanaway, Pat (Darlene) Hanaway, John Hanaway, and Peter Hanaway; grandchildren, Beth (Jake) Braezeale, Jennifer (Greg) Moffitt, David and Julia Hanaway, Sara (special friend, Rodney) Hanaway, Jason (Stacy) Hanaway, Kevin Hanaway, Sean (Shawn) Hanaway, Jeanette (Kevin) Mullins, Ryan (Tammy) Hanaway, and Tom Hanaway; eight great-grandchildren; siblings Kay Berg and Edward Farrell; numerous and wonderful nieces and nephews; and the Corner Gang.
Arleen was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; parents; sons, Charles and Joseph; sisters, Elizabeth Farrell and Gladys (Charles) O'Conner; and brothers, Thomas (Kate) and Donald (Mickie) Farrell.
Visitation for Arleen will be Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at St. Clare Parish- St. Patrick Askeaton site from 9 to 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday with Fr. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Unity Hospice or a local hospice group.
