    Notes:

    Biography:
My uncle Raymond Hansen died at the age of 31 the year before I was born. The only memories I have of him were of how the family talked about him. He was the fifth child of the Peter and Ann Hansen family, of Denmark Wisconsin. Raymond was a very talented person; he was able to play the piano, organ and violin even though he never took a lesson. He was an ordained minister and married the daughter of the pastor of the parish where he was serving. Raymond had volunteered and joined the Army soon after he and his wife Leona were married in 1941. He wanted to do his part in helping his fellow man. Captain Raymond J, Hansen, Chaplain US Army, landed on Omaha beach on June 11th 1944. He killed as he was administering to the wounded and dying soldiers. His death was a great shock for his young wife, his family and friends. My Grandfather would smile at me and say that I resembled Ray, I think it made him feel like a little bit of Raymond was still here.
