    NEW LONDON REPORTS A VETERAN'S DEATH
    Ralph Mayo, for many years a resident of this vicinity, died Sunday afternoon at the home of his sister, Mrs. Gertrude Spurr. Mr. Mayo had been ill for some time. His death resulted from a stroke of paralysis. He had been in charge of the Wright store at Manawa for about a year and served in the Philippines land in the world war. His wife, one child, his parents and his sister, Mrs. Spurr, survive. - Oshkosh Northwestern, 13 Oct., 1920

    Ralph Mayo, Manawa, died suddenly at five o'clock Sunday evening while visiting New London with his wife. The funeral will not be held until the last of the week when Mr. Mayo's parents are expected to arrive from the west. Mrs. Mayo was formerly Miss Katherine Kerrigan of this city. - Appleton Post-Crescent, Oct. 13, 1920.

    MILITARY RITES AT MAYO FUNERAL
    New London — Ralph Mayo, whose death was mentioned in a previous issue, was a New London soldier. He died at the home of his parents, Mr. And Mrs. A.M. Mayo on Pearl street, and the funeral was held there Friday, conducted by the Masonic order. Mr. Mayo was a member of Company M and served overseas. He was on the Tuscanina when that boat was sunk, remaining afloat for seven hours in an open boat after the wreck. He was driven ashore on an island off the Scottish coast where he helped to identify and bury the bodies washed ashore. He leaves a wife, six week old son, parents, three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Spurr, Mrs. Beulah Cline, and Miss Myrtle Mayo; three brothers, Walton, Jerome, and Francis.The Masonic Lodge, the ex-servicemen and members of the American Legion acted as a military escort to Floral Hill Cemetery. - Appleton Post-Crescent, Oct. 19, 1920.
