    Obituary:
    Minnie "Min" Austin, 86, passed away June 25, 2011, in her home at Island Shores in Neenah. She was born in Kimberly, on April 8, 1925, to the late John and Nellie Houterman. On April 25, 1953, she married James W. Austin at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Menasha. They enjoyed nearly 41 years of marriage beginning it in Neenah. Through the years they also lived in Eau Claire and Amery. They returned to the Fox Valley in 1974, settling in Menasha. She spent 35 years in their Menasha home, spending the last two years at Island Shores.
    She was employed at Kimberly-Clark in Kimberly, prior to her marriage and it was where she met her husband, Jim. She enjoyed reading, decorative and folk art painting and traveling throughout the U.S. with her husband and children. In later years, she and Jim traveled several times to Europe. Proud of her Dutch heritage, she and Jim visited many relatives in the Netherlands. She was a member of St. Patrick Parish, Menasha. For several years she volunteered in the many parishes they belonged to with each move. Min also enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels and at the St. Vincent DePaul store.
    She is survived by her children, William (Susan), North Scituate, R.I.; Jane, West Allis; James, Jr., Eau Claire; Michael, Menasha; Kathryn (Daniel Schierl), Neenah; and daughter-in-law, Katharine Austin, Eau Claire. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mallory Denniston; Kelly and John Austin; Danny, James, Christopher and Sarah Schierl.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Bertha Vandehey and Theresa Houterman; sister-in-law, Dorothy Houterman Haack; brothers, William and John; and brother-in-law, Glen Vandehey.
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 324 Nicolet Blvd., Menasha, with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Menasha. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial St., Neenah, and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. at the church until the time of the Mass.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
    Minnie's family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice and staff along with the caregivers at Island Shores for their loving care and compassion.
