    Biography:
    After their Mariage Martin and Dorthea Blessman lived in Kuskau, Germany until 1880 when the came to America with their three children, Gustave, Anna and Margaret, on the steamer "Ohio" and landed in Baltimore, and went direct to Appleton. Wisconsin and arrived there on July 19, 1889
    They lived on Durkee St for three months, then on a rented place on River Road and in October of 1886 bought the home and 4 acres of Mr Pein on River Road for $2.000. This remained the Blessman home until 1919 when it was sold to John and Bartha Schultz of Mondovie, Wis. The River road was later changed to South Pierce Ave.
    Maritn Blessman was a shoemaker by trade and was employed in the Appleton Shoe factory until it burne. H then opened a shoe repair shop on the corner of Oneida and Lawrence Sts, which he had for many years.
    He was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge for 48 years.
    A year after the death of his wife, he left his family, and married a strange women. He was very unhappy, and in 1919 he left her, and went to Brooklyn, NY to live with his son, Gustave, While there his wife obtained a divorce,, and she died soon after that.
    After his return from Brooklyn, he went to live with his daughter, Anna, wher hsi youn sons, Ralph and Lloyd made thir homes after their mother's death.
    He was loved by all his children as he was jolly, tender hearted and kind to them all. They all went to see him as often as tehy could, and felt that the sister's house replaced the old home. There, too the three children of his son, Edward, wer raised after losing both parents with in a couple of months . The last week of his son's Edward, Illnes he spent at his bedside.
    He was never ill a day in his life, went for a walk every day, and very neat, had good eye sight, and up to his death had a steady hand and coul shave himself twice a week.
    He passe away peacfully at the agfe of 82 years 7 months He sufferd a stroke after he finished reading the evening paper, lived until midnight, and as the day ended so did his life.
    His son, Lloyd, made the last two months of his life more than pleasant in many ways.
    He had very nice funeral, and all his children, except Margaret, Theodora and Ralph, followed him to his last resting place in Riverside Cemetery, were he was buried beside his wife, son Edward, and Hatgie, and son - law Albert Hertzfeldt
    The pallbearers, wer John Dowe, Edward Draeger, Wilson Patterson, Robert Burdick, Bliss Blakesle, Clarence Trentlage, All Lodge members,
