Lois Mae Stern: Lois Mae Stern, age 79, of Appleton, died on Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at Appleton Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Lois was born on February 15, 1927, in Brillion, to the late Leland H. and Viola (Schnell) Wolfmeyer. She married Orvil Stern on November 15, 1952 in Brillion; he preceded her in death on October 7, 1998. Lois's family and her loved ones were her top priority. She loved life. She had a beautiful voice and as a charter member of St. James United Methodist Church, she was a long-time choir member. Time spent at the family cottage at Sawyer Lake was a special treat. She enjoyed a good game of sheepshead and Scrabble, bowling, and a good joke. Lois loved to laugh. She was also a member of the national Lois Club. For many years she was employed as a bookkeeper at the Jeske Company and other area businesses. Survivors include her children, Sandy (Don) Buechel, West Palm Beach, Florida; LuAnn (Ken) Van Handel, Appleton; Cheryl (Mark) Saltzman, Madison; David (Tracy) Stern, Appleton; her beloved grandchildren, Kris (fiance Ben Robarge), Carol, Andy and Jeff Van Handel, and Alex Norman/Stern and Henry Stern; her brother, Ken (Carol) Wolfmeyer, Wild Rose; her sister-in-law, Esther Wolfmeyer, Brillion; nieces, nephews and many friends; and her "sister" Geri Wogsland, Appleton. She was preceded in death and is now reunited with her husband, her infant daughter, her parents and her brother Lloyd. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2007, at ST. JAMES UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 100 West Capitol Drive, Appleton, with Rev. Mark Klaisner officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the many kind and skilled personnel who cared for Mom during her final years; to the staff at 2-South at AMC; ThedaCare at Home Hospice staff; and the AMC Wound Care nurses, for their loving care.
