    Obituary:
My name is Leighton Larson; my friends call me Buck. I got the nickname the day I was born. It was in honor of a dear family friend.
I am the second son of Raymond and Marie(LeBlanc) Larson. My older brother was Darrell Larson. I was born in Faribault, Minnesota on October 23, 1925. We moved to Kimberly when I was six months old and continued to live there until October of 2014, when my wife Alice and I took up residence at Renaissance Assisted Living in Appleton.
I went to Kimberly High School until I joined the Navy after my junior year. I returned from service and finished my high school career. I was president of my graduating class of 1947. Shortly after graduation I went to work for Kimberly Clark Paper Corporation. I held many positions there over the years and under many owners, K-C, then Mid-Tec, and finally Repap Paper Companies, finishing my 44-year career as Head of Utilities.
Following my return from service, I met the girl who would become my wife, Alice Schlimm, and we were married on June 16, 1949. We raised 4 children, 1 daughter and 3 sons: Bruce (M. Jane Taggart) Larson, Cathie (Lee) Larson Stuyvenberg, Craig (Lori) Larson, and Mark (Trace Holst) Larson.
They are proud parents of our grandchildren: Alison (Greg) and Eric (Amber) Larson, Drew (Daphne Pee) and Matt (Stephanie) Stuyvenberg, Connie (Eric) Larson Mathews and Katie (Wes) Larson Tarr, and Dirk Larson. We have 14 great grandchildren: Luke, Brock, Kade, and Kolt Cooper; Madison Larson; Ada True and Ian Justice Stuyvenberg; Macklin and Franklin Stuyvenberg; Clara, Lucy, Emma Mathews; and Jaxon and Kingston Tarr. Alice and I are just shy of our 68th wedding anniversary. We were very fortunate!
We are lifelong members of Holy Name Parish, now Holy Spirit. Our children went to Holy Name and I ran the Intramural Boys' Basketball program there, where I watched many of our community's boys as they grew into responsible young men.
Sports were always a big part of my life. Baseball and basketball were what made summer days and later Friday nights fun! Soon Alice's and my passion for golf would fill our summer days on area courses and on courses around the country.
Alice and I built the home of our dreams on the Fox River, just south of Sunset Park in 1975. We hosted many family celebrations and holidays there. We both enjoyed making our home open and warm to all who entered. We loved watching the grandkids as they made their 1st attempts at fishing.
On Tuesday, June 6th, 2017, I passed from this earth. I was preceded in death by my parents and my brother Darrell and his wife, Rosemary. Also, Alice's parents Henry and Helena Hopfensberger Schlimm, and her sisters, Viola and Marie (Sr. M. Melita), and brothers: Clarence (Mary) and Clement (Catherine) all preceded me in death.
A celebration of my life will be held at a date yet to be determined.
My family is appreciative for the wonderful care provided by the staff at Renaissance Assisted living. The staff was always attentive, warm, and caring. Asera Hospice made the final transition of my life understandable and less complicated; thank you to all.
